Re: new amp

The Marshall should treat you well, congrats and enjoy.

Re: new amp

Some of those 900's get some wicked tone. Don't let anyone tell you that all 900's suck. There are plenty of 800's that blow also. It's all about dialing in a good setting, and making sure you have the right set of tubes. Changing your pre-amp tubes can make a world of difference in your tone, then power tubes. There are also a ton of mods out there for people who find the amp's are too bright, too grainy...ect. Usually just a small resistor or cap value change away.

Marshalls are the amp for me (except for jonsey's Bogner which I still drool over). Enjoy and let us know how you like it.

Re: new amp

900's uh well they die when compared to a 2004 or 2003 JCM800's sorry.
I have a 4500....it is unreliable, thin and hard sounding, it helps with better tubes and a good bias, but it is still far from anything I like about a Marshall.
When I get it to stop falling out, I am so going to sell that amp;)
I can get it to sound somewhat decent, but it really is terrible to my ears......uh
But different playes can make a huge difference on an amp.
So I wish you all the best with your new amp.
And the SL-X does not sound much like the dreadful 4500 top as I recall:)
