Hey guys, New guitar arrived today.
Basically its a custom build. Petrucci JPM replica body with a Steve vAI DNA JEM maple neck/Fretboard.
I've gone with coloured Dimarzio PAF PRO and Steves Special. I already have an Air Norton in the neck of another guitar and wanted something with a better coil split/clean tone in middle position. This delivers! Also removed the Tone pot and installed a bypassable EMG 'EXG' expander pot (basically a buffer circuit and pot that cuts the mids and boosts super highs and bass, great for cleans, makes my guitar sound like an acoustic / piezo / DI )
Also, i have to say, I don't understand everyone's bashing of the Steves Special. Its ****ing incredible. Through my 2C+ Mesa Preamp and 295 its superb (Tight, crunchy, crispy). I understand how it might be lacking a bit of dirt/chunk in a marshall though... Clarity is unreal, it's like playing through a clean channel... but on the lead channel. If that makes any sense?! haha It's definitely made to add definition and a wide freq range to a Mesa mark setup!
Big thanks to Perle guitars in the USA who makes all these JPM / JEM and PGM model Body's and Necks for people wanting a customised brand new signature Ibby model and not an old second hand one!
