Re: New Bass Day

No excuse now. You gotta rock dat bass!

Re: New Bass Day

Thanks for the replies guys!! kinda thinking Sheesh, shouldnt have bothered putting it up as no one was saying anything. It not a POS.... It really is a heckuva fast playing bass. Only bass Ive ever played with action that low and all is a high end neck thru Kramer I played in a store back when Kramers ruled the world..

Yeah, the pictures suck.. the camera was an anniversary gift from my work.. imagine that...?? Im trying to figure out what the Dimarzios are that are in it..
Funkfingers, Yeah. Thats how it is for everything now.. Im set for gear in both 4 and 6 strings.. Its ALL on me.

Re: New Bass Day

Adjustable hex screw polepieces means DP122 Model P and DP123 Model J. Both pickups are dual coil, noise-cancelling.

great info! Thanks! These supposed to be good pups? Any experience with them? I can research now that I have the model numbers, so that helps so much!!

I would guess better than stock would have been. cant wait to play thru my bass amp!

Had a Model J pair briefly. So old that they had creme covers and chromed polepieces. To my ears they lacked the wiry bounce of a Fender single coil bass pickup.

The nearest that I have tried to a Model P is the Billy Sheehan Will Power Middle PU. Powerful but, again, not as toppy as I like.

Re: New Bass Day

Thanks!! Was playing her today. Had to rock her soft cuz I was plugged into my pv classic 30 and didnt wanna rattle the tubes out of it.. Ill have to get the bass amp out of storage..

Re: New Bass Day

Nice Grab,Dude!!!

A buddy of mine put a DiM P/J set in an old Jackson Concert bass that he got for stupid cheap & absolutely loves them!!!

Re: New Bass Day

Thanks!! She plays amazing and sounded great thru my classic 30. Ill plug her into a bass amp soon. Expect good results! You know I never really gel with Dim pups in guitars, but for bass, Ive not figured out what tone I like/want/need. This one seems to have a good span of tones. Dude, we gotta hook up soon. Still in same area of town?

I'm guessing that you play mainly Rock with a plectrum. The P will be your default sound. The J pickup introduces a bit of stringy edginess. If you want the J pickup to dominate, turn it up full and roll the P volume down until the tone gets "notchy".

Re: New Bass Day

Yeah, I mainly play rock, but am trying to get proficient with the fingers and not a plectrum. I like the tone better with the fingers. Espec with this guitar. Tone seems "brittle" with a pick. Im sure it will sound alot better thru an actual bass amp tho, but still, I want to try and learn proper technique. (or at least some sort of bastardization of it. haha) Thanks for the info!

Well, you could always try playing with two sawn-off drumsticks Velcro-ed onto your fingers. :D
