Tommorow I am going to my local shop to gte new pickups for my Hwy 1 P-Bass and I wanted a little help. I am leaning toward 1/4 lbs but I wanted to know what Antiquities were like. I like the tone of 1/4 lbs and wanted to know if they were similar. Also how much do Ants run? Thanks for your help.

Re: New Bass PUP's tomorrow

I should receive my SPB3-QTR Pndrs today. I have a Fender American Standard Fretless P-Bass that I am putting them into.

Re: New Bass PUP's tomorrow

the qp is quite a bit different than the antiquity. the qp is bigger louder. the antiquity is sweeter and more balanced, similar to an old p bass.

both are great sounding pups

Re: New Bass PUP's tomorrow

Ill probably go with the 1/4 lbs for now since I've heard them before. Are ANTS more or less than 1'4 lbs?

Re: New Bass PUP's tomorrow

If you have heard and really like the QP tone I would so go for it. The Antiquity is warmer and has more mids, very vintage sounding but sweeter to my ears. The Antiquity will also run you about $20.00 more.

Re: New Bass PUP's tomorrow

I just finished successfully installing my SPB3-QTR PNDrs in my Fender American Standard Fretless Precision Bass. Rather than soldering, I opted to splice the new wires with the old using male and female crimp connectors (yes there was space for these and the wires). The sound is unbelievable!!! My bass has way more punch both low, mid, and high. Get the QTR PNDrs, you will not be disappointed!

Re: New Bass PUP's tomorrow

I got the 1/4 lbs and am painting my pickguard matte black. It's a Honey Blonde Fender Hwy 1. I'll try and get pics up as soon as I can.
