New bridge day

This is my first OFR I have used specials and cheap knock off before. So I figured why not get the real deal. Plus I think the vintage copper finish will work well on my black guitar.

Re: New bridge day

OFR is the way to go. It's my fave so far, "Full Floating", OH YA! Am going to try a Gotoh FR.... if I can ever get going on my build again...ARG! Then we will see which I like better after that.

Re: New bridge day

The only good bridges are the Ibanez Edge and Gotoh. The Gotoh even comes with a brass block stock, like the ones in Fernandes Japan. No upgrade required.

Re: New bridge day

To each his/her own. All OFRs come with brass blocks and always have. They are silvery colored because they are plated. If you compare an OFR to a Gotoh FR side by side, in your hands (so you can look at all surfaces) it is plain to see that the OFR is ground and polished better before being plated.
The base plaits of the two are made using different methods.
The OFRs base plate is made using a cintering process. This process uses metal powder that is pressed and heated under extreme pressure (without melting it) into the parts shape using a die/mold. This make for an extremely hard part that is very wear resistant.
The Gotoh FRs base plate is stamped from a sheet, bent to shape and then hardened.
One method is not necessarily better than the other in this situation, just different and due to this, they sound different. I believe the sadles are made differently as well. The OFRs I think are made the same as there base plates. The Gotoh FRs are cast. This also imparts a different tone.
In the end, which one works best for YOU is all that matters. Some time you may have to tweak something a bit to get it "Just-So".
At this point I am solidly on the OFR side of the fence, but we will see after I get some experience with the Gotoh FR.

This post seems a bit rude.

Incorrect as well, my OFR came with a plated brass block stock.

A nice little run down there on construction. Thanks ya bud.

For the record i have both trems and i cant fault either. I like the way the gotoh feels more rounded and finished but on the other hand i like how the ofr is more flat and bare-bones feeling. The gotoh is cheaper which is a bonus.

Re: New bridge day

Just waiting on a few more parts to come in so I can install it. I have tried a few of the gotohs on music man guitars. They seemed nice. so far my favorite trem has been a kahler that was on a Cantrell rampage I had. But it needed more maintenance than I prefered. I do want to put a big block on it. But that will come when I get more cash.
