New Husk Day

Imperator of Indignation
I bought this Xavier LP husk last night for $40, so I would have something to work on while off for my birthday. It may have been a factory second because there are two blemishes in the finish. One dark streak between the pickups and a bubble near the cutaway. I'm not sure why it was parted out. The neck looks ok, and I spent the day dressing the frets. I bought a bridge, knobs, tuners, and a selector ring from Temu today. The picture is from the seller.

I finished wiring it today. Two 500K volumes, a 500K bass cut, and a 1M Q-filter. The bass cut is very effective without sounding thin or harsh. The Q-filter is more subtle, but when combined with the bass cut, it is very versatile. The action is low, and its intonation is good at C#. This thing sounds mammoth and can go from thick and sludgy to tight and aggressive. After buying tuners, pots, knobs, bridge, and covers, it's around $90.

There is no conventional treble cut tone controls. Instead, there's a bass cut and a Q-filter which is an inductor based midrange circuit. It works like the Q control on a parametric EQ and scoops the midrange.
