New Bridge pickup for a PRS Mike Mushok Baritone

I'm looking to replace the stock pickups in my baritone, they're serviceable but kind of muddy. I'm looking for an open, dynamic but heavy tone. I really dislike the compressed average metal sound with high output pickups, so I'm looking for something more low-medium output as I heard they work well with baritones. I'm a big fan of the guitar tones of bands like Chevelle and Breaking Benjamin and others like that.

I've read the Mike Mushok is kind of a mid-scooped guitar that's decently bright, so I don't know if that has any effect on the choice. My current project is a duo, so I need a fairly big guitar sound. I'm more of a singer that just plays riffs not solos/shredding and generally don't get too far into all the technical details of gear and such so I'm kind of lost when it comes to stuff like this. Any insight you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Something articulate would serve you well in that guitar. I'd say check out a Pegasus or the Jason Becker Perpetual Burn. Both of those are pretty articulate pickups. The Pegasus was designed for seven and eight string guitars so the six string version might be exactly what you're looking for.

The Pegasus, or even the 59/Custom Hybrid, would be good choices for a baritone with a lot of distortion. They are both tight under gain and open sounding without a ton of mids, even with lower tunings and bigger strings.

I didn't even know the pegasus existed, it definitely seems interesting. The 59/Custom was one I was looking at before I posted the thread. Those are looking like my top two choices right now, I know tone is subjective and pickups all sound different in different guitars, but if you had to guess which one do you think would take me closer to the sound I'm looking for?

JB. Pete Loeffler advocated them in an interview in Total Guitar november 2014.

Well you'd have to get the amps that Pete and Breaking Benjamin use to get close to the sound.

If you want to avoid the overly compressed modern alternative metal sound, then I'd say the Pegasus will do it for you. In a baritone, you'll find that high output pups like a JB can get muddy, in my opinion, so having something a bit cleaner like the Peg will let all the notes in your riffs be heard and it'll be a lot more open sounding.

Yeah, the Pegasus would be my choice, and if it didn't exist, the 59/Custom Hybrid.
