In the beginning I didn't get it either since what I was reading was "the paint was peeling off and had some orange-colored artifacts".
What he meant was that after starting to cure the paint didn't stay smooth and started getting the TEXTURE of the peel of an orange (the fruit).

It's mostly obvious at the last photo of the red tele, it's covering the entire left side.
It kinda reminds me of the grain of quilted maple actually!!!

look at the area where the highlight is on the lower right of the gtr and you can see the tiny little pebbled texture that is "orange peel" named after the texture of the skin of an orange.

the effect is UNDER the finish.. which sucks.. i have it sanded and polished mirror smooth on the topcoat but apparently needed to sand more in between coats... minor but annoying when you spent months on it.. luckily my buddy that got it had a total crap gtr he's been playing for 15 yrs so the cosmetics are a far 3rd to the tone & playability which are both GREAT!

still needs the back plate and to be intonated properly but sounds awesome!!! love the hot p-90s... noisy but TONE rich!

Finally done with the last 2 of the 3.

both 1pc swamp ash
1 pc warmoth maple necks, nickel 6105's, regular "c" on the black, srv assymetric carve on the burst)

hot p-90's in the burst and a distortion bridge and '59 neck in the black
hipshot string through bridges

1 300k vol pot (burst), 1 500k vol (black)

i had to cut the intonation adjustment springs to give the saddles enough travel to intonate properly but other than that initial setup problem, the rest went great.. nice low but not buzzy action, good string bending tension... i effing love the p-90's they're noisly as frack but sound so good.

time to get started on the next one...

cool thx for th compliments i am very happy and so are my 2 bros that got new guitars!

the racing stripes are just pinstripe tape from the auto parts store lacquered over with clear until you cant feel them anymore.. worked out great & we'll see how well they stand the test of time but at this point it worked out great.

Wow. I'm not normally a tele fan at all, but that brown one with the p90s is awesome! Great work :D

All three look great, but the red one is absolutely killer! Great choice on the guard, both in finish and shape.
