i went ahead and bought the marshall JCM 900 cabinet in red. It doesn't look too great.. but it sounds godly.

I'm going to trade it for what I really wanted, a marshall 1936 212 cabinet.

here's a clip with the new antiquities in my firebird. Are you ready for my version of Crossroads with cold hands?

video is processing. if its not available check back.

Re: New Cabinet day... new pickups day. VIDEO!!

Congratulations!! How much did you end up buying it for?

Re: New Cabinet day... new pickups day. VIDEO!!

yesssssssssssssssssssssssss.

that's a nice sounding head dude.

Re: New Cabinet day... new pickups day. VIDEO!!

No need to make "cold hand" excuses...besides, it sounds like the crowd liked it.!
How did you record that by the way.?
Besides my awesomely moded AC30CCH that is for sale...I really do like the sound of those AC50 heads. Vox never got much mileage out of them, but I think they are A LOT better than most people realize. Heck, most people probably do not even know they made these heads, or they think it is some kind of crappy and more powerful AC30.
I heard one demoed in my friends music store when they first came out. It was after store closing on a Friday night. They had the cab into a 2x12 with Blues. I listened to 3 different guys play it with a Tele and a 1978 Tobacco Burst LP. It was a real nice sounding amp. I am sure the pricing on these things now is laughable.
Sounds good. Thanks for the video.:)

I find that after like 10 minutes of playing is when my originality when soloing really comes in.

I recorded this with my iPhone.

I got mine for next to nothing because the seller was desperate but I haven't even seem them on ebay. it's a great mash up of a straight up vox ac30 channel and a marshall crunch channel.

the matching cabinet, if im not mistaken, is MDF and has Whaferdale speakers. someone has the 412 locally but I'm not into the idea of those speakers.

Re: New Cabinet day... new pickups day. VIDEO!!

ps, i don't know if its visible but all the eq is on 10 on the amp, Clapton dimed everything in Cream, it seemed appropriate... it doesn't sound bad at all!

that's usually my test for discovering an amp's true character, if it's a passive tone stack anyway. My theory is that passive tone stacks are designed to attenuate frequencies. So if you turn them all to 10, you are attenuating nothing, and getting the rawest, most un-altered EQ of the amp.

sometimes, it sounds great (like on my old Jet City), sometimes not so (my tubemeister sounds harsh and fizzy with the eq knobs dimed)

this makes a lot of sense!

Re: New Cabinet day... new pickups day. VIDEO!!

For $225 it's a damn steal. What speakers are in it, 75's or V30's?

75s. I made sure.

I would have preferred 30s but I can't complain. It's still a high quality guitar speaker.

I have a H&K Edition Tube 20 which is sort of a precursor to your Tubemeister, and I used to wonder about that. It turns out that H&K amps have active tone controls, so 'flat' is closer to 12 o'clock than dimed. Lately I've been running my Edition Tube with gain 12 - 2 o'clock, bass 10 o'clock, and treble / mids both at about 1:30.

Re: New Cabinet day... new pickups day. VIDEO!!

I looked up the edition tube 20. It definitely does have an active EQ.

I am about 98% sure that the tubemeister's EQ is passive though, otherwise they would've mentioned it in the literature and/or indicated it on the front panel itself.
