New Carmen Ghia!

Howdy,

Today I ordered a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia head in blonde w/ matching Dr. Z 1-12 cab. It'll be here in a couple of days. I've been hankering for one of these beauties ever since I sampled a lightly used one at my local shop years ago.
Since it'll arrive with a stock Celestion Vintage 30 speaker (Ceramic), I e-mailed Ted Weber for an AlNiCo replacement recommendation. He came back with his AlNiCo Silver Bell 30 watt utilizing his "Pre-Rola" treatment. Huh?
So in a couple of weeks I'll mount that baby into my 1-12 Z cab and see If I get my $200 worth. I'm really pumped!
I can't wait to plug my Gibson LP Sp. (w/ SD Vintage P-90s!) into my new Ghia, apply a capo, tune to open G and start firing salvos of my favorite 'Stones riffs.
Doctor Z/Silver Bell owners free to chime in. For that matter, anyone is welcome to chime in! I just can't hide my excitement, forgive me.

Re: New Carmen Ghia!

Howdy,

LaughingKookaburra: Well, based on the 10 minute "test drive" from several years ago, this amp feels and plays like a bigger version of a Champ, but with several differences..
It's been described as sort of a cross between a Vox AC-15 and a Marshall 1974X. This amp is very touch sensitive, with it's EL84s and my own Weber AlNiCo Silver Bell (Marshall-ish) speaker.
I was able to ride the crest between "clean" and "dirty" so easily with this baby. It's also a "bright" amp and should go well with my LP Sp and ES-335. And the Pizza-de resistance: Just two knobs! :)
