New Carmen Ghia!

Howdy,

After four years of yearning, I finally pulled the trigger on a new '08 Dr. Z Carmen Ghia head w/ matching 1-12 cab in blonde. It came with a NOS Sylvania 5Y3 and 20th Anniversary badge on the head. Nice touch.

So far, she sounds good with my Rickenbacker 360/6, LP Sp. (SD Vintage P-90s!), ES-335 and even my Tele. The Ghia's interaction with my Mahogany Tele proved a pleasant surprse, as I figured this amp would be a bit thin sounding for it. It's nice to be wrong sometimes ;)
I'm thrilled about this amp, as it seems like a perfect fit for my Gibsons, especially. I've ordered a Weber Silver Bell 30 watt speaker for the 1-12 cab, as it came with a Ceramic V30. In time, this amp will sound even better, I'm sure. Any Z owners here?

PS: BTW, my ES-335 has '59s and absolutely roared through the Ghia, though they're kind of trebly. On a side note, Rickenbackers have proved to be very adaptable to different amps.

Yeah, I've got a Route 66 that I bought here on the Trading Post from Scott (mrfjones). Absolutely love that amp! Hope he doesn't regret selling it. I'm also about to pull the trigger on a new Remedy. :)

Congrats on the Ghia!

Re: New Carmen Ghia!

Howdy,

My Ghia goes great with my Maple-Glo Rickenbacker 360. Earlier I had it tuned to open G and capo'd at the 4th fret. This set up is surprisingly good for Keef applications.
Any other Z owners feel free to chime in..even if you don't have a Z :)

Oh, man! You're as bad as I am!

That's what happens when you spend too much time on the Z forum. :lmao:

Re: New Carmen Ghia!

Out of all the reviews of Z's I've read, that one sounds like the one I'd like the most. Get some grind, set tone and go.

Re: New Carmen Ghia!

Glad you got one coming your way. Dr Z amps are one of the nicest out there for sure. Do you have any way of posting clips when you get the amp in?

Re: New Carmen Ghia!

Howdy,

Phil 104: I'm really not tech or internet savy enough to post sound clips or pics. On a side note, I just put some NOS tubes in my Ghia; hope they improve the tone.
Ghias are a ball. My red knob Fender Super 112 isn't as versatile as my Ghia, and I really like the red knob Super 112.
