Hi,
Has anyone seen the Zenison Les paul tobacco sunburst les paul (on Amazon)? They look too good to be good. 100 bucks, depending. Maple/rosewood bolt on. maple cap (not veneer) phoenix(paulownia) wood back. Ya gotta see this. Comes from an online company called EDMindustries.

This?

The only review is awful.

This guitar is clearly made from a kit. I bought it for my husband for Christmas, but was too humiliated by this cheap plastic junk that I could not give it to him. I returned it immediately. Most of the parts are plastic and some were even broken. It was scratched, and the "wood" was peeling around the area where the neck meets the body. The black cover on the back was clearly cut by hand, uneven, chipped and didn't even fit. It literally looks like a child possibly pieced it together with used spare parts. I returned it and lost $19 for return shipping. So, technically, I paid $19 just to look at this piece of junk.
My advice: Save yourself the time, money, and the hassle of returning it, and skip this junk guitar. For just a little more money, I found my husband a beautiful Epiphone guitar at a "Center" (Hint hint) which makes this guitar look like a toddler's toy.

Re: New Cheap knock off

Yeah,
I saw that review but still, on their site: EDMwi.com, Zenison guitars, the wood looks fine, a maple neck with rosewood is hardly plastic, it just seems like a deal for a backyard luthier like my humble self. It is all I have left to do for fun. (back injury), plus their strats look real cool too. The top maple looks thick enough NOT to be veneer, I don't think the reviewer knew what she was looking at, no offense. Plastic can be chipped and broken for all I care, mounting rings? I got a million of them. I don't care about the plastic. and any paint problems around a bolt- on bridge sounds awful fixable for such a low price.
Also the LP looks flat like a jr. (less weight for me) so I called and left a message, will call again on monday. Looks like a great homemade LP Jr. for real real cheap. I'll let ya know if I go through with it. Thought I was finally done, but this is hard to pass up without looking into it.
Thank you all for responding.

Hey - if you know it could be a total loss and that's ok, go for it.

There is always the awesome challenge of making it go, and also the benefit of being willing to do ANYTHING to it.

I loved that Amazon review…AhahahaHAhAhahHaHAhHaha

Re: New Cheap knock off

A pickup is about $100 worth.

A whole guitar for $100, well if its a kit you have to finish then its not going to be worth the paint you put on it. If its a whole guitar.......just buy a nice pickup intead. At least you'll get some satisfaction from that.

Re: New Cheap knock off

Without even getting to the review, I wouldn't buy it based on the vendors own bullet points:

Amazon said:
  • Color - Sunburst Tobacco
  • Finish - Gloss
  • Geared Hardware
  • 2 Double HambuckerPickups
  • 3-Way Toggle Switch

Re: New Cheap knock off

They seem to me to be scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel when it comes to bargain guitars. For the price of two of these you can get an Xaviere guitar that is better quality and has decent pickups in it. Xaviere's seem to be pretty good (stay away from b-stock) and most people have good things to say about them (unless they're b-stock)...

I want a hambucker. And I don't care how wrong it is.
It's very wrong. You've probably come across it before, and didn't realise it; one of those expensive ham sandwiches with barely any ham in them, and with far too many sauces, which clash so violently that you can't taste any ham.

Yeah, awesome wife!

If she spent a little more on an Epiphone at GC she probably ended up with one of the plywood ones. Good deal.

$100 for a new guitar isn't going to get you much, but as long as the neck is straight, that's all you need. Replace parts as necessary. I'm still wondering why we haven't seen hardtail strats made out of Paulownia.

Re: New Cheap knock off

Probably not a great guitar but I agree the review seems totally bogus. That lady probably works at a 'center' (hint hint). :)

Re: New Cheap knock off

Don't buy it from Amazon! You can get it cheaper HERE!

I'd see this as more of a project guitar. I'd strip it down, and the first thing I'd do is replace the neck (the paddle-style heads do nothing for me at all). Some new HAMS, a new finish (I'm not a fan of the tobacco burst)... at the end of the day, I'd just be shamelessly using it for its body. ;)
