new clip of work in progress

super rad stuff

Skaforlifeologist
it's the one at the bottom of my song list on my myspace, titled F Major song in progress. it's just 3 guitars and bass, and it's just a couple of riff(it ends at 54 seconds) but i wanna know what you guys think of the tones.

the bass is my dean ML with a jazz QPb

the left and right guitars are my mockingbird with a jazzN a3/seth loverB through my sd-1, mxr classic, phase 90, ce-3, and carbon copy into the toneport. i forget which is which, but one of them is just the neck pickup and the other is both on, possibly with a coil cut:dunno:

the center guitar(the crunchy one) is my SG on the bridge(a8 490t) through a ds-1 and mxr classic, into nearly the same setting on the toneport with a different cabinet model.

this is just a basic idea that i'm trying to put together, but i want feedback anyways:)

I just put this on and my wee 2 year old girl shouted "Shutup! I no like song! I need a....baby Goofy on." That was after dancing to Iced Earth.
Read into it what you will...

For my part I like the ideas a lot, but the guitars have too much reverb, it needs to be a bit more defined and less dirty maybe?

yea, it is pretty dirty. i don't like straight clean tones outta the toneport though:p

btw it's not reverb, it's my carbon copy. i'll dial it back a bit though.

Re: new clip of work in progress

they're great tones considering they're all direct, i like the vibe of the song so far too

as long as you've got contrast between those 2 parts it won't matter if the 'clean' parts are a bit dirty

nice one

cool, thanks:)

i'm gonna try and mess around with some other parts with it over the next few days, for now i'm going to try and get to bed earlier than usual since i need to start living like a regular person who doesn't go to bed around 7 or 8 am:smash:

edit: btw the for the bass i turned off the gearbox modeling program, and just plugged my bass cube direct to the recording program. i think it sounds better than the modeling, plus i don't get any crazy clipping from only moderate playing like i would with gearbox.

You get clipping when playing bass? I've only really noticed that when doing acoustic stuff or vocals. Bass works alright on my Toneport.

through my cube into the "no amp" model, yes. i don't like the toneport bass models either way.

Re: new clip of work in progress

Ah right. I normally just stick with the "Tom Sawyer" option, works for me.

I like that chick's voice. It reminds me of Natilie Merchant or whatever her name is. Is that the chick from 10,000 Maniacs?

Anyways, I dug it man. Good job dude.

i think you meant to post this on trevorus' thread about his new band's demo? i've only got a few guitars and a bass on this thing....
