Re: New Custom Shop Pickup - Phat Staple

I saw these at the factory when I was there a few weeks ago. Pretty col pickup!!

Re: New Custom Shop Pickup - Phat Staple

There was a similar custom shop Soapbar with these staples I think it was a 7 string pickup. What was that one called?

Re: New Custom Shop Pickup - Phat Staple

Like that but it had at least 7 poles, um staples. I remember I posted it in a thread with a picture, let me find it.

Hmmmm, hopefully these don't sound anything like P-94s, right?

Do I get that correctly that they are intended to be the staple P90ties (that you find in the neck of 54 LP Customs), just in humbucker format?

Re: New Custom Shop Pickup - Phat Staple

You guys have outdone yourself this time if it sounds half as good as it looks!

Re: New Custom Shop Pickup - Phat Staple

They are absolutely outstanding!

Are they based on P-90 specs? It's not very clear in the description.

I might be dumb, but... € 225.00 is the price of only one p'up or for the set?

Working on it. Probably going to get a pair and throw 'em in a hollow body.

yeah a staple pup that fits in a bucker rout

How does the staple shape affect the tone or behavior?

the magnet structure is totally different than a p90 and sounds quite different

Would anyone care to describe what these sound like? Or speculate.

Re: New Custom Shop Pickup - Phat Staple

I have about 10 minutes of Seymour playing them and talking about them in our sound room. I'll try to get it posted this week.

You know how way back we were told that CD's were more crisp and clear than vinyl? You know how we all believed it? Then later we went back and listened to our vinyl and realized there was plenty of clarity and depth there? These pickups are like rediscovering your vinyl. They look elegant, but there's a purity to the tone as well. Large coil, large alnico poles, plus I think the fact they're floating, not glued or pressed into the coil changes something too. They sound very dignified, but there's also nothing more rock 'n roll than plugging something dignified into something filthy. They rip through some nasty overdrive.
