New D.I.Y. Project The Simoncaster!!!

Hey everyone,
After my last NEStar, I'm back again to share another absurdly silly guitar related build! This time around, I was bored with my Ibanez Talman Acoustic. I didn't know what to do to it but I had an urge to put an arcade button in it. Playing with the idea of what the button could do, eventually it came to me! I had an Arduino Uno laying around for over a year. I had planned on learning Arduino but never got around to it. It finally came in handy. I programmed the chip with Simon and drilled into my guitar. I had to LED mod the buttons and fit everything inside the guitar via the sound hole. That turned out to be the hardest part. It was all worth it! Whatcha think?

What if you used them to trigger samples, or control a looper?

Ah these things and more have already been considered. I plan on adding a two player button and a coin reject button. All of which will be connected to a .wav trigger board. But for now, this is enough :)

I was thinking wah arcade stick.
but how do you plan to do that? Normal arcade sticks use microswitches not pots like wahs do. You could use an analog stick I guess but then you'd need a microcontroller...among other problems...sounds like a headache.

If i was to ever build something like that it would be from scratch i wouldn't drill holes in a acoustic and add some game to it. I would want the control to function with the guitar. I.e kill switch or like i said a modded wah circuit but with a stick instead of a pedal. Anything is possible.

I drew this up awhile back. I thought it could be fun. Not sure what all the buttons would do.

I guess you could even make a jumbo sized pickup switch with the stick.

Not sure I get your tone (seems a bit negative hopefully unintentionally) but you seem to assume I haven't done similar things like that already that is, build from scratch and/or use arcade buttons for kill switches and what not. I have...this project is just one of many and I like diversity in my builds. I've done everything you listed except for the wah thing, the pickup selector stick thing has been in my head for a while now (the arcade light switchh covers at places like think geek.com supply a perfect two direction stick btw) but those ideas weren't meant for this project. I mean EVERYONE does killswitches. I definitely have gained a lot of experience with this stuff so I am able to be more realistic about certain things. I've done the kill switch thing enough to the point I want to do anything but kill switches now! Sure anything is possible, never said the opposite, but some ideas can be more trouble than they are worth.

Anyways. Your design looks good! I hope you get around to making it real!
