I replaced the EMG 57/66 set in my Ibanez with a Het set. I really liked how the guitar sounded at home at low volume (because of my living situation, I cannot turn my amp up to gig volume) after the pickup swap.
I brought it to my gig last weekend with the intention of using it all night, but there was a lot of feedback coming from my monitor, so I put it back in its case and grabbed my backup guitar (with EMG 81/60). There was no feedback with this guitar.
Could there be any wiring issue that would cause this? When I swapped the old PUs for the Het Set, I just plugged the new pickups in using the quick connect system, so none of the wiring was really touched.
Could it be pickup height? They are very close to the strings, but no closer than the 81 in the bridge of my other guitar.
Any other thoughts?
Thank you so much guys. This forum has been a big help to me.
