NEW EVH pickup thread for LtKojak!!!

Re: NEW EVH pickup thread for LtKojak!!!

About EVH -
I saw and held his striped Partocaster (I think the red striped one) as Floyd Rose installed the first ever locking trem, nut and bridge. It was still ragged, but worked famously. Floyd (an acquaintance) in Seattle took me to his home where he made all the parts - I mean to say he had them milled for him.
Eddie's pick up in that first guitar (fans should know the year, I forget) was a rusty, but beautiful real deal PAF. Double black bobbin with that cool square/circle and visible very dark wire. Floyd turned it over and showed me. He is so nice and he was so proud (rightfully so) of his invention, I think I remarked how many Jimi Hendrix bootlegs would have sounded so much better, etc. So there ya go!

I'm not interested, unless they come with a cape, and underwear that looks snazzy when worn over your tights :p

That's the new gym look for millennials, sans the cape

Thanks for the story. You got to see history being made!. Floyds are fantastic! Every time I play through a PAF style pickup, even hot rodded ones that have a PAF'ish tone, I hear Van Halen, so I don't doubt it. Doesn't matter what magnet is in it, as long as there is lots of gain and delay, I hear Eddie in my head (I should get that checked). Which is odd because I don't listen to much Van Halen, but I am fascinated with his tone. Which is indeed all in his fingers. That's the cool thing, the way we play is kind of like our personality or fingerprint, we are all uniquely ourselves. The other great thing is that through this forum and playing guitar we all get to meet and appreciate people who have very different personalities and like different musical styles. Although when I am researching I see lots of you guys in a ton of other forums as well. I have learned so much stuff from everyone and would like to thank you guys for sharing all that you have.
