I've around the net that there's gonna be a new Wolfgang like the Peavey Wolfgang but Charvel is manufacuring it and, it's gonna be at the NAMM show in a few days, i've also heard that it's gonna be made in Mexico. anyone else know anything about this new wolfgang and if there are any pictures of this Charvel Wolfgang can you please post them here.

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

Charvel has no production facilities in Mexico at this point in time... that part is definitely a crock.

Even on the JCF there´s lots of speculation, but nothing tangible, nor is there even any concrete evidence that this guitar will ever exist ... you´ll have to wait for NAMM like everyone else ;)

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

Fender, which now owns Jackson and Charvel, has production facilities in Korea, so it's not that far off. Their Lite Ash teles and Strats, as well as many of their fancy imports are made in Korea, I think by Cort.

Oh- forgot- Fender also has manufacturing facilities in Mexico

Jackson/ CHarvel Manufacturing, Incorporated (JCMI) is as per the deal from October 31st 2001 a wholly owned but fully independent subsidiary of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation.

Jackson has ALWAYS owned their own production facilities, with the sole exception of the (short lived) mid 90s Korean plant. The takeover changed nothing about that, JCMI still owns all of their own plants.

Current JCMI Plants are in Corona, California, Chin Su Gakki in Japan (IIRC in Ogata), and Jackson/ Charvel Manufacturing in Bangalore, India.

so couldn't charvel use the fender manufacturing facilities in Mexico?

In pure theory they could.... But the current roadmap as far as I understand it sees no Charvel imports in the pipeline AFAIK.

It´s possible... but highly unlikely ;)

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

i hope that charvel does make a new wolfgang, but i hope that they dont put a strat headstock on it that will kill the wolfie, and it will be nice if they make them at a low price

Eddie already killed the Wolgang. It died with the Peavey deal regardless of what anyone else builds.

I find it hard to e believe anyone would build a sig model for Eddie at this point. VH the band is over and from what I saw on the last tour so is EVH the guitarist.

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

Zerb, I have a question for you, as you seem to be way into this :reporter: .

My DK2 is a pre-Fender Japanese made Dinky (from the Akai-age). Just over a year after I got mine, distribution changed from local distribution and possibly several distributors inbetween to the Fender (Blueline) distribution network, and prices dropped like lead balloons. Nowadays you can buy that very same DK2 brand spanking new for slightly less than half of what it cost me :yell: . Now, I wonder: is the new distribution network for Jackson the sole reason for this, or is there more Fender/Jackson doesn't tell us? :eek13:

Actually, Peavey also still produces the Wolfgang (but dressed in Sheepgangs clothes, I guess :laugh2: ), in the Heartley Peavey signature range. It looks quite different, but in terms of tone and playability, it's still pretty much the same guitar. The same goes for the 5150 amps, they're still there but are now named 6505, as a sort of 40th anniverary amp (Peavey celebrated its anniversary last year - '65-'05 - hence the name :27: ).

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

I think we are all waiting to see what will come of this. Once that interview was done in Oct. with the radio station (twodorks.com) EVH said that he was working on a new wolfie and had to get it out. Everything since then has just been speculation.

You would have to assume that he would stay with Charvel since they're still producing his art series, but it could be another company.

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

i had read somewhere that Eddie was also gonna make his new signature amp with Fender or some other amp company,or i could be wrong

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

who cares about eddie.... i'm excited about the strathead charvels that are going to be out.

Thats like saying a PRS is the same as a Gibson Doublecut. The amp is the same as PV owned everything but the name, the guitars are not even close as EVH holds all of the design patents on the Wolf.

Not really, the HP is a 24 3/4 inch scale, set-neck for a start...

The Wolfgang was a 25.5 inch, bolt on.

To finnish his Peavey deal on the last night of the 2004 tour Ed smashed 2 Wolfgangs and tipped his huge 5150 cab towers over..... There used to be video of it somewhere on the net.... He finished off one guitar after Right Now... which i have to say is a strange tune to smash a guitar too but what the hell... then at the end of the concert he went ape and destroyed his gear.... Maybe he thought he was in the Who..... Only other time i ever heard of Ed smashing a guitar on stage was back on the 79 or 80 tour... He broke the neck off his guitar.....

Peavey has taken the new-ist version of the Wolfgang off their site... i was looking for it the other day and it is not there.... I heard Ed was pissed that the Axis design ended up being owned by EB.... He wanted a guitar of his own design that could of been made by any company. So i think with the Wolfgang he retains the rights to that shape and design. It may be made by someone else soon....

I have a Wolfgang neck that is like new... Got it from a tech friend that did work for Peavey. I was fooling around with it the other day... I really don't like that narrow nut width.... plus add to that Peavey had dressed the frets with a slightly larger then normal beval on the edges. The strings are sitting right on the very edges of that neck if i make a body for it... I may hang onto it or i may sell it in the future... If i make a body for it i'm sticking a real Floyd on it... I was thinking of making a EB Axis or Wolfgang shape guitar basswood body and paint it EVH stripped for this neck... or the other body idea i have is to make a strat body for it and paint it Black and Yellow like the Charvel on VHII cover pictures...

The only real EVH signature guitar i like is the Charvels... They are really cool! But way over priced! More expensive then Les Paul Customs here in Canada.... I love them but the price is foolish...

Well, if I knew that for sure I probably wouldn´t be allowed to tell you ... but I could well imagine it having something to do with Jackson now using Fender´s well established Distribition network, though... ;)

That and AKAI was kind of "milking" Jackson/ Charvel... The CS was practically in ruins when FMIC bought them....

There´s still no "official" word from JCMI on this... at this point it´s still just a loud rumor... it´s highly likely that IF they´re made available then they will be available on CS pieces first, then at a later point on production models.... ;)

But in all cases: all we can do is wait for NAMM :D
