New EVH Wolfgang?

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

n case you didnt know the interview is at twodorks.com He only mentioins the wolfgang a little bit late in the interview. Eddie sounds like hes had much better days.

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

I played one of those Peavey HP Specials last summer. Nice guitars really but they feel nothing like the Wolfgang. To be honest, I don't like the Wolfgang near as much as the EBMM sig model - now Axis. That guitar just kills and feels like an old shoe in your hands. I only wish I snagged one back when I had the chance before the prices started to go up. I'd be OK with an Axis though. Only difference besides his signature not being on it is the location of the selector switch.

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

It's wierd that Ed went from a 10" fretboard radius on the EBMM to a 15" fretboard radius on the Wolfgang. Is anyone going to the NAMM show in a few days?

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

forget about the wolfgang, how about this...

limited run of 100% dead on relic frankie replicas are to be done and here is one just hanging out in the rack reflectors and all...

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

That's cool, Mike. The thing is, they'll charge an arm and a leg, possible your first born too, for one. That's what I can't stand about the Charvel EVH Art guitars. Sure, they're strathead Charvels but the price is rediculous.

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

man you're talkin' to the wrong guy, i wouldn't play an EVH signature guitar if you paid me to LOL. i'm not eddie and i don't play anything like him and i don't want fools to compare my playing to his b/c we all know i'd smoke him (and then i woke up) LOL. however i must say the art series EVH charvels are some killer feeling, playing and sounding guitars. too bad i can't get a solid white one with the guard and no stripes....oh well.

actually i think the only one i would consider of his sig guitars is the hardest one to find, a trans pink finished music man!!

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

One of my friends who has a guitarstore tried one at the Fender plant last year.
It was one of the best strats he ever had tried....amazing feel and sound, and this guy somewhat knows what he is talking about:D
They learned later on that Ed actually was at the plant that day...too bad.

I belive he's referring to the HP Specials which is the wolfgang but without Ed's name, the D-Tuna,a slightly different body shape and some other things check this website out it talks about the Peavey HP Special

Maybe so but that guitar is nothing like a wolfgang. The shape is different, the controls are different and the pups are different. Thats pretty substantial and just doesn't qualify as "the same" in my book.

Not really, the HP is a 24 3/4 inch scale, set-neck for a start...

The Wolfgang was a 25.5 inch, bolt on.

Well, actually...

See? :)

Edit: I now also notice the post by EVH-in-training. Those are the same guitars.

I never promised you an 100% identical guitar :)
Here's what I said:

It looks quite different, but in terms of tone and playability, it's still pretty much the same guitar.

He can come out with whatever he wants but I still prefer the EBMM. It just plays so smoothly. I like the humbuckers in it. The guy has an ear for good pickups. DMZ kept sending him pups and he kept saying "nope, not it" until they got it right, for him. The trans pink looks really cool with the quilt top. I've only seen a few. I like the red, purple and the amber. In fact, I'm considering the EB contour from USACG for my Tele project neck.

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

I still prefer the Peavey EVH, Goldtop. Its a killer guitar.. haha
I never seen a Charvel EVH yet, I heard that the price is like x2 of the Peavey. and its only a single humbucker and one volume control.

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

Most of my guitar collection one has one working bridge humbucker and a single volume controll.... I got used to that in the 80's.... Even my Exployer and my Epi LP have had the neck pickup disconnected.... A few of my Fender strats have had a humbucker added to the bridge postion and i never use the neck and middle single coils.... My Jacksons, One stock strat, my 2 teles and my 76 LP Deluxe are the only guitars i have out of almost 20 Electrics that have working neck pickups...

Re: New EVH Wolfgang?

wow, i do most soloing on the neck pickup and i use the tone control a lot- the EVH doesn't do a thing for me. the EB/MM EVH was the best of the EVH models I have played (including the new insanely priced ones).

WhoFan, have you noticed a difference at all in sustain (string pull) if you have removed the pickups you've disconnected from the circuit? Just wondering if that would make any noticeable effect, good or bad, in leaving them in, or removing the unwanted pickups.
