You sparked an interest for me in Taylors now and I went searching. Not as mint as yours and it says it is a ce model even though it's only acoustic. Stll nice though for the cash I assume.

That's actually a reall great deal. I wouldn't have minded owning one that was strictly acoustic. For the most part I imagine I'll never plug it in, except to perhaps record. I'd jump on that price in a hurry.

Rstlessone...I need to do some research about what humidity ranges are acceptable. I'm in souther North Carolina, so humidity is abundant, but indoor a/c saps a lot of it away. My indoor temp runs around 72 degrees with an average humidity of 50%....it that enough? I know my cigars like 70%, but I ain't smokin' my Taylor! :32:

Try this link.....it will take you the Taylor website on the FAQ section...at the top of the question is a pdf file on the use of a Damp-it. The article explains thw humidity requirements. Note: acoustics are best returned to their cases when not in use.

Here's the link to the damp-it

Also look through the FAQ's and the other articles they have on line, very informative.

Hope it Helps

Nice!

Believe it or not I have never owned a nice steel string acoustic, I really like the Taylors I've played I imagine you got a beauty, enjoy it.

Re: New Family Member In The House

Life's too short to live it without a good acoustic. I remember a story that's become somewhat of an urban legend. Someone from Martin visited the Taylor Co. and had a debate about whether a great acoustic had more to do with wood or construction.
Martin stood by wood, while Robert Taylor threw a pallet made of crappy pine at his builders, turning it into a nice dreadnaught. Between Martin and Taylor, I can't tell you which is better, but I can tell you they're both miles ahead of the pack.
Life would be complete with a rosewood backed Martin dreadnaught and a mahogany backed Taylor Concert.

Love that 414. The rosewood gives a little warmer feel with more well defined bass. It's amazing how consistent the Taylors are. Each one I played in different stores retained the same general tone, even from lower end to higher end. I definately have the lower end of the Taylor line, but the sound is miles ahead of the majority of other acoustics out there. I love the way these things are built.

GJ....I'm a direct result of taking your advice on buying a good acoustic and not buying something marginal. Once I played the Taylors, I knew they were for me. I wasn't quite ready to buy, I really wanted a few more weeks to test and get a feel for what they really sold for, but for a great deal (in my mind anyhow) I had to snap and buy. I don't regret it one bit. This guitar, along with my USA Strat, my Dean Hardtail and the LP that I will eventually buy will be the guitars that sit in my guitar room for whatever remaining time this life blesses me with.

Thanks to all for the nice reply's. Everyone really does owe it to themselvs as a musician to own a nice acoustic.
