NEW Fender Band Master VM

Does anyone know anything about these new Fender amps ?

I did a search, and could not find a single thread on them :wrf:

http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?section=amplifiers&cat=new

The "vintage modified" head, a 40W jobby, w. 2x 6L6's sound pretty bloody good and cost only $650.00 at MF.
The Combo, called the DeLuxe (combo Band Master ?) is $850.00. Kinda expensive for just adding a single 12inch speaker.
The one thing that they could have left out is the DSP 'stuff' !!!
WHY did they have to go and ad this !
I have my own dedicated stomp boxes to do this ! Don't need an amp to do delay for me. My Carl Martin DeLayla XL is made to delay my signal !

Anyways, i still like the tone on the Fender site, and it looks like a good price too !
$650.00 for 40watts all valve head with a drive channel . . .

What do you guys think ?

Re: NEW Fender Band Master VM

I want a new Princeton.

I tried one of the reissue PR at the same time as a PR Recording...the RI won hands down with the same settings on the dials. Warm and swirly.

The new VM series seems to be made for those who want to graduate to a tube amp and don't know anything about pedals and such. It'll let them do what they need for way less cash.

Re: NEW Fender Band Master VM

What they should make is a no frills BM combo with 3x10"---that's Mike Lewis's fave setup (although he's got a tweed). It's smaller and lighter than a Super, but way bigger sounding than a Vibrolux or a Pro...

I agree. A 40W Fender tube head is a really cool idea. I'd rather they just keep it at that.
I'd be cool with a preamp out/power amp in effects loop so I can put my own chorus/reverb/delay in. But I prefer an amp to just be a great sounding amp.

And you should! I have played it many times now and to my surprise it sound DANG good! I will probably pick one up on the used market for $5 or $600 bucks!

i want the Princton Reissue too...

but these new VM amps from Fender have me very interested... someone said it's a simular circuit that is in the HotRod Deluxe amps with the newly improved DSP effects and more vintage looks...

i could be into one of these... i'm not a vintage snob... modern bells and whistles would be nice sometimes.. I have a crappy Stage 100 DSP head... i'd like to replace it with a Bandmaster VM

Re: NEW Fender Band Master VM

Fender's "Vintage Modified" line is always awesome

Ever heard of the Squier '51?

Vintage Modified.

It was discontinued because they were too good for too cheap, cut into MIM Fender marketshare.

MMmmm, 40watts . . . now it got me thinking ! :33:

I wonder which amp, this new Band Master, or the 40W 1x12 Hot Rod DeLuxe has the most gain on tap ?

The Band Master, or the Hot Rod on the "more gain" seting ?

Any one ?

The one clip on the Fender site makes me think the Band Master sounds much warmer than a stock Hot Rod !

Saying that, this clip made me think real hard about getting a Hot Rod :

Band Master :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO4ITIOEZe4&feature=related - not much better sound !

Re: NEW Fender Band Master VM

I love watching that Greg Koch clip... funny...

i'll be eyeing these amps when they come in stock locally... they may be just what the doctor ordered to match some of my strats

Re: NEW Fender Band Master VM

The Fender Bandmaster was a musical instrument amplifier made by Fender. It was introduced in 1953 and discontinued in 1974.

WIKIPEDIA

Yes, i know it is an amp that Fender made way back in the day.
I am looking at maybe getting one of the vintage models !
Many bands bring out RI's !

Deluxe Reverb RI & '59 Bassman LTD RI being two of 'em !

Now they are bringing out the Band Master RI - but it is a VM, so it is modified version there off..
But there is nothing new about the Band Master name !

I think that's what cream was pointing out, is all.

I think it sounds good, but it's not for me. Too generic sounding, compared to the other stuff Fender has right now :1:
