New Fender Metalhead amp

Re: New Fender Metalhead amp

im sorry, thats not fender. i know im not one to decide, but come on, i just dont think fender should be attempting to make a metal amp. i really doubt its going to be any good either. fender is famous for tubes, not solid state, and they are famous for clean/crunch, not metal. im skeptical until i hear it.

Re: New Fender Metalhead amp

Along the same line, Gibson had very vintage looking amps featured prominently on stage on the Ozzy Osborne MTV Battle of the Bands type show. The bands were playing death metal and those Gibson amps are not really for metal. I thought it was a bit odd. Fender doing metal is a bit strange.

Sounds interesting to me almost the Mode Four of Fender. only once ive heard it for myself will i pass any jugdement.

I assume you haven't tried the M-80?

actually i have....it sounded pretty cool, but i wouldnt have known how to set it for metal anyways

now, name 10 more fender amps that are the sh!t for metal :)

Re: New Fender Metalhead amp

I for one like it. It's good to see some evolution once and a while from some of the more traditional companies.

I wont buy it though, it's just nice to know a traditional company like fender is beginning to broaden itself.

LOL, I had a feeling you probably had experience with that amp. :laugh2:

Re: New Fender Metalhead amp

550 watts... WOW! They say it's for headroom so that makes sense... but damn... you turn the master volume to 2 and you're set!

Re: New Fender Metalhead amp

I get a kick out of how people try to pidgeonhole a company and their products. If companies didn't try out new things we would be stuck with the same stuff. But to me, it makes no sense in sticking to the mentality that FENDER = X, GIBSON = Y, and so on and so forth. If you can get the sound you want, it shouldn't matter what name of the company is.

550w @ 2ohms
Yeah I think thats the key, however It's like 440 at 4ohms, so even THAT is way up there too!

This definately seems like Fender's Version of a Mode Four. Did they set a retail price yet? I'm curious to see how it stacks up against the MF

i dont know why anyone would want an amp like the mode four. i think the mode four sounds like absolute s h i t. as much as i hate the idea it doesnt change the fact that fender should be allowed to do whatever the hell they want..

Re: New Fender Metalhead amp

I don't mind a company trying new things, however I'm not expecting much from it.

Re: New Fender Metalhead amp

I'm also wondering why anyone would want to "compete" with the Mode 4... one of them is too many already! I'm not expecting this Fender to be anything great either, but if it is I'll gladly eat crow.
