Anyone see these?

The 60-watt head and 2x12 cab for around $1500 sounds like it may be my next amp.

Re: New Fender Super Sonic

Is this Fender a Clean channel/focused amp, or is it another attempt to compete with Marshall? Ala Hot Rod, but revamped?

Re: New Fender Super Sonic

the clean channel switches between a Vibrolux and a BF Bassman head And the crunch channel is voiced like the Prosonic...not sure about these at all...

From the description of Fender's site:

"After years of painstaking research and design, we’re proud to introduce the Fender Super-Sonic amplifier—the first Fender all-tube amp to capture the highly desirable sparkly tones of the ’65 Vibrolux®, the thick tone of the ’66 Bassman®, and the smooth and creamy crunch of modern, high-gain amplifiers. The Super-Sonic amp lets discriminating players capture industry-standard Fender clean tones, bluesy “pushed” tones and modern high-gain tones in one easily portable all-tube amplifier. "

I am anxoius to try this amp out. A friend of mine whe went to NAMM said it was the real deal. I know the prosonic can get unreal distortion, and with those two clean selections...........well.

5 X 12AX7 (P/N 0013341000),
2 X 12AT7 (P/N 0023531000),
2 X 6L6GC (P/N 0053980000)

Not my favorite power tubes, but plenty of pre-amp tubes to generate gain. It all depends on how the gain is structured.

Re: New Fender Super Sonic

I saw this in the new Frontline catalog that I got today. Don't know what to think of it yet. I've played the Prosonic before and it was just ok, not mind blowing in anyway.

i don't really see how the hot rods were made to compete with marshall

Re: New Fender Super Sonic

IMO the Hot Rods were an attempt, but that's just my opinion. I don't think I'm diggin the Partridge guitar, at all. Hopefully Fender's new amp throws them more into the heavy rock/metal area.

The clean channel features are what really interest me, but the high gain channel also does to some extent.

Re: New Fender Super Sonic

I'm really liking the blonde/brownface 1x12 combo, with one of the Eminence Texas Heat speakers it could probably be a really nice amp for clean tone. I was never much into American-voiced distortion, so I could possibly just forget that the distortion channel exists and just enjoy the clean channels, using the Peavey I'm getting for distortion. The perfect combo of raw British distortion and Fender cleans, tonal heaven
