New Fenders!

Check them out here. Last years alternate reality line was pretty great, but I think they really knocked it out of the park with their concepts this year. Not only do we get to see some fresh ideas, but some older models are being brought back too. I still prefer a Maverick to a XII, but it's great to see it making a comeback in 2019.

Tenor Tele

Good to see a larger company trying to cater to the tenor market.

XII

The addition of a toggle switch instead of the old rotary is a welcome change. I also hear that they have improved upon the old pickup design.

Meteora

Similar to last years model, but this one comes with a unique feature. It comes with a switch on the pickguard to switch the volume controls on the VVT setup so that you can do volume swells on the neck and the bridge.

Sixty-Six

I don't know what to think about this one. It looks damn cool for sure, but I haven't played one or seen enough of the specs to really form an opinion.

Re: New Fenders!

That's Sixty Six is kinda weird looking... first I saw this actually. Looks like a Strat that got stung by bees. haha!
I can see the blending of some Jazz Bass too I guess.

Re: New Fenders!

Jazz-bass'd strat, why not?

...oh yeah, non-standard pickguard really makes strat ownership less fun, and the hideous stock color ain't helping

What's wrong with a nonstandard pickguard?

Re: New Fenders!

What about the new Acoustasonic Tele
That seems like a cross between a Taylor T5, a Tele,and a Line 6 Variax

Re: New Fenders!

Damn, Squier is on the ball too, with 13 new Classic Vibe models.
Cosmetics mostly on the squires but they changed neck profiles which sounds good to me, hope they made them slightly chunkier. Fender pickups instead of... were those toneriders on the strat and tele? Laurel boards... have not tried one, but they look nicer to me than pao ferro which looks a little conspicuous to me

Also from fender I think the meteora looks kinda cool. It's different.

Re: New Fenders!

I like th Sixty Six, I've been wanting to have a guitar built using a scaled down jazz bass body for a long time now, but I'm not a big fan of three pickup guitars. I'll probably get one though.

Re: New Fenders!

I wish the guitar world could evolve more so than it can and ever will. It's just another line up of fenders that all look the same as the last :dunno:. I know they have tried superstrats and all the rest of it and obviously i can see this is there only option as a viable business but still i dream.

It's what the majority of the public wants

And Fender is A LOT better at catering to a large and wide customer base than Gibson... also, don't forget they own other brands for less traditional niches, not just Fender and Squier

Brands:
Fender
Squier
Gretsch
Jackson
Charvel
EVH

Really, their one weak spot is high-end acoustics
