New from ENGL Amps - RockMaster and MetalMaster

Engl has come up with two new amps: RockMaster and MetalMaster to complement the GigMaster series. Available in head and combo (1x10). If it's true that the both of them have EL34s in the poweramp... That's awesome. Been waiting for a smaller EL34 based amp for a long time, the RockMaster could be the ticket. Sounds quite good in the Engl demo... And that RockMaster looks seriously badass IMHO.

What do you guys think?

Re: New from ENGL Amps - RockMaster and MetalMaster

Both thomann and musikstore have the wrong specs.

Not necessarily. I've seen people talking nonsense even in official product videos, although of course it's likely they know better than Thomann or Musicstore. Official specs on their website confirming either version will probably be the only way to be sure.

I'm no expert on valves, but if EL34's indeed aren't usually used in small amps, then I'd guess EL84 it is.

edit: and both shops getting it wrong, that's what happens when everyone just copy&pastes what someone else wrote on the web :P (which of course is what 99% do)

Yeah that's true.

Anyone digging the sounds?

Well there you have it, another guy in an official product video who doesn't know what he's talking about

Re: New from ENGL Amps - RockMaster and MetalMaster

Do manufacturers bother checking google to see if their names are original?

...and digitech has the metal master.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one. It actually does have a few good sounds in it. But, I guess they could argue that one's a pedal and one's an amp.. but the RockMaster amp... yeah. (Never had one, but had the preamp version and it was awesome.)

Re: New from ENGL Amps - RockMaster and MetalMaster

All of Krank's Jr amps ran 5881's at 20W. Just because a tube has a max output doesn't mean it has to run at that.

Re: New from ENGL Amps - RockMaster and MetalMaster

That rockmaster video has a nice sound for such a small combo not as flubby as most el84 combos (and I'm an el84 type guy) definately high gain enough for anyone not playing metal i reckon and the cleans were really nice hopefully its like that in real life (not that I can afford one probably ever).

Re: New from ENGL Amps - RockMaster and MetalMaster

I think they sound sublime, especially the cleans, in the demos. Seriously thinking of buying a Rockmaster to replace my Orange TT. Anyone tried these amps out yet?
