Yeah, definitely want to check that out...the Custom Badass '78 Distortion just sounds a bit too scooped for me...that scooped thing just doesn't work well with Fender guitars into Fender amps, it just seems to impede the tone from cutting through in a band situation...but this seems a bit warmer...
I tried one of the overdrives and it was pretty good. I wish I had gotten it when it was $40, instead of $100 at the nearest Guitar Center. I really want one of the SD Lava Boxes first though.
With new pedals coming out, especially 3-knob distortions, I sort of expect them to fill a gap that hasn't been filled already. The guy is a good player, but the box is like something I've heard 100 times.
That was my first thought, because I think it was also a Distortion III. I wonder if this is the same or different.
Once a few owners open it up and compare them, we'll hear the real scoop.
These GC specials have all been a repackaging of existing MXR pedals so far. This doesn't sound like anything special to me. @ $50 not necessarily a great deal either if that is the case here. Good, not great
Don't mean to repeat anyone, but it's just another 3 knob distortion with a red casing. They (GC and/or Dunlop) are just better off dropping the distortion III down in price.
Also, the "finish" around the footswitch is the same as the classic od and distortion, so it just shows where the design comes from.
