I never really liked it much with my old amp on its own, with the Egnater on the with the Brit tone stack it sounds much more like what I expected from a tube screamer. I got mine for a good price used but I will eventually replace it. Currently I use it more before the Free Fuzz to give it a mid boost and shelve off the lows, and it works really well before the gain channel I set up on the Egnater. I would say if you can get one cheap there's no harm in getting one but if I had a choice between this and something nicer I would go with something nicer.
