New Geetar Day! Music Man!

And now for something completely different! I got my final bucket list guitar last night. I've wanted a Music Man Silhouette since I watched Keith Richards use them heavily from around 88 through 94. And not just any Silhouette, white on white with a hard tail bridge.

I got this baby from Ishibashi in Japan. Used and looks to be from around 1997. Excellent condition with just a couple minor dings in the body. I pulled the pick guard and it looks all original underneath. Has the Dimarzio PAF Pro pickups in it. She sounds and plays great!

Weighs 6.59 lbs on my kitchen scale! Light!

Congrats! May she serve you well for many years to come!
Any idea what the middle SC pickup is?

Re: New Geetar Day! Music Man!

Music Man is easily the most underrated guitar company on the market today. I could live the rest of my life playing nothing but EBMM, and I'd be fine.

Re: New Geetar Day! Music Man!

My 2 Music Mans (A Silhouette Special and SUB1) are my 2 favorite guitars, ever. Enjoy that! They make such great instruments.

Fine guitar...my silhouette is a favorite....congrats...
A little story about that funny looking guitar:
“We introduced that guitar at the worst NAMM show ever...New Orleans summer 1985. It was a NAMM experiment gone bad. The few dealers who showed up were so hung over from partying on Bourbon Street came to the show late and didn't buy anything. The few that showed up made sure they came buy and laughed at Dudley and I for this little guitar with the funny headstock. It flopped.

But I sent one to Keith Richards. It's a long story....but out of the blue I get a phone call at home mid 1986. "Hello, Sterling? This is Keef." I said "who" He said "Keef Richards" "I got your guitar, its like a fine woman..lets go"

The next thing I knew we got a telex (before fax and email) for an order for 10,000 guitars from Japan. That was the good news. The bad news is that we were making about 4 guitars and basses a day. But we were off and running on a now thirty year journey.”

Ye gods.... I was at that show in New Orleans... I don't remember seeing the Music Man booth there. I was heavily into Ibanez and Fender at the time, and hung out at either the StewMac booth cracking wise with Dan Erlewine, or laughing with Paul and his wife Adrian at the Chandler booth.

Hated Bourbon Street - it was all T-shirt shops and titty bars, and the whole place reeked of thrown-up beer. Best memories of the trip were the great beans and rice at the convention center, and the mud pie at Muriel's in Jackson Square.

If it's original (and I think it is) all the info I have on it is that it's a Dimarzio and they are "custom wound for Music Man". No idea what the specs are.

Awesome find, I think it looks fantastic and we pretty much know it’s going to be a slick as you like to play. Sounds like it took a long long time to find so enjoy your bucket list guitar!

Yeah, that forum is great for all info about your guitar. My Silo Special was born on 11/28/01, and my SUB1 was born 01/31/06.
