New GEORGE LYNCH PEDAL

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
It ain't gonna be cheap, but it sure sounds interesting ...

GEORGE LYNCH has joined forces with LegendaryTones and pedal guru Robert Keeley to create a new customized version of the acclaimed Time Machine Boost pedal. The new GL Time Machine Boost (GL TMB) takes the unique voicings of the original Time Machine Boost, but adds a more aggressive character and bottom end.

In addition to the newly voiced Vintage channels, dubbed “60’s Bite” and “70’s Growl” respectively, the Modern channel now includes a “Mr. Scary” mode switch that toggles between the normally clean and punchy boost of this channel to one that now adds additional gain to emphasize harmonics. The GL TMB is perfect for various functions including utilizing one of its channels for a boosted rhythm tone, and then switching to the other for boosted leads when it’s time to take a solo. With four-modes of operation and two independent circuits and channels, the tonal options of the GL TMB are nearly infinite.

“The original Time Machine Boost I was using is great for pushing my tube amps and getting more natural tube drive and sustain,” said Lynch. “But working with the team on a custom model, I wanted a bit more of an aggressive tone with a fatter low end from the Vintage channel, as well as the option to get some dirt from the Modern channel depending on which amp I plug into. It was also important to keep the punch and fidelity of the Modern channel and ‘Mr. Scary’ mode does just that. This is one serious and very musical tool and I’m proud to have my name associated with it.”

In addition to the tonal versatility, the GL TMB is meticulously built like no other pedal and is virtually indestructible. Each GL TMB is 100% hand-crafted, built one at a time, with the finest select-grade components that are wired up in pure Point-to-Point fashion. This approach to the design means that there are no less than seven hours of labor hours put into each and every GL TMB. The layout inside the pedal is as stunning as the exterior. Just like the construction of many of the greatest guitars and amplifiers in the past, the GL TMB is made to stand ahead and on its own, and it obliterates mass-produced pedals with a quality of build and tone that will provide a lifetime of musical enjoyment.

The GL TMB has a wide range of uses. Use it to further overdrive a tube amplifier into more harmonically rich distortion or as a preamp to strengthen the output signal of a guitar’s pickups. Its two footswitchable channels and unique circuits with independent volume levels provide further dynamics, tone shaping, and versatility. It is ideal for use with both vintage and “boutique” class non-master volume amps to get further gain and fatter tube drive from the power stage, as well as master volume designs to help provide stronger cut and crunch beyond what the amplifier could otherwise do.

Applications

The Modern channel is specially voiced to transparently squeeze additional natural gain from your tube amplifier to pump up your rhythms or solos. The Modern channel maintains the natural tone you already have, but just gives you more of it by strengthening the signal from the front end and also maintains all the fidelity and punch of your signal. If your amplifier is already being overdriven, the Modern channel can take your amp’s overdrive “over the top” for compressed, sustaining leads. The Modern channel can also function as preamp and can blend its boosted clean signal to an amplifier also set clean, which provides an instant volume boost in this environment, perfect for musical passages that need to stand out.

Or click the footswitch to travel back in time with the Vintage channel to alter your sound with boosted tones that sing with musical sweetness and rich harmonics unique to those eras of the past. Old style chicken head knobs bring the feel and look of vintage designs of the past, but the circuit is refined, taking only the best from the past and refining the rest. The Vintage channel brings you two modes to travel to with George’s “60’s Bite” or his “70’s Growl” voicings.

Toggle into the ‘60s and crank your amp up for tones that blend smoothly and put you up front in the mix by adding extra top-end sparkle with a mild overdrive. The “‘60s Bite” brings you back to the booster tones used by many of the British greats of the era and is especially designed to be used with an amplifier that is already being overdriven. Or, toggle into the ‘70s to fatten up and boost your single coil-equipped guitar, or add extra meat to the tone of your favorite humbucker guitar without losing definition or turning the sound to mud. The “70’s Growl” will enable your guitar and amp to deliver a smoother, full-ranged rock n roll crunch with midrange, reminiscent of the best boosted and fat rock tones of the era.

That sounds really interesting. Hopefully the $$ exchange rate will keep getting better.

Re: New GEORGE LYNCH PEDAL

I use a very KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) rig. High-end, high-gain head with no distortion pedal.

Right now, I use a VHT Pitbull head through a 4X12 cab. I used a G-Force for effects- chorus, a little flange, and delay. I am interested in this pedal but can't decide exactly how I'd use it if I bought one. I can get more than enough gain right out of my VHT. My next head will probably be a Diezel VH-4 so I can use MIDI to control everything more easily (the VHT doesn't use MIDI to switch channels).

Does this new pedal have a place in a rig with a modern, high-gain head or is it more designed to push a Plexi into submission?

Re: New GEORGE LYNCH PEDAL

I've read nothing, but great things about the stock pedal so this new one looks even more amazing!

is it basically a distortion pedal that will push more gain out of a plexi or a modded marshall?...if so, i'm getting one...

Re: New GEORGE LYNCH PEDAL

If there's one thing I respect about Lynch, it's that he associates his name with good gear, not a bunch of trash like all the other metal players. I mean, cumon, if you're a nationally known guitar star, WHY would you endorse stuff like Crate, Randall, DOD, Samick, or something like that. At least he has the good taste to deal with Keeley, and not make some turd like Zakk did with MXR and Yngwie did with DOD.

I was thinking the same thing, GJ: If you're gonna do, it go all the way!! :D

Re: New GEORGE LYNCH PEDAL

If the original time machine boost was for 60's and 70's tones, will this Time Machine take us straight back to Dokken, Live at Gazarri's circa 1984? Hahahaha

Re: New GEORGE LYNCH PEDAL

I think this Time Machine takes you back to before you had $329 in your wallet! I HATE to say this, but Lynch is kind of a flake when it comes to gear. I've read where he swears that this amp is THE one, or that pedal is essential- only to have him switch gear in a few months. Except for ESP, he's gone through Bogner, Marshall, Soldano, Engel, etc... His list of gear that he's used reads like a guitar store catalog! What's funny is that no matter what amp, guitar, or pedal he's playing, you can easily identify his playing style. The most crucial element of his tone is his fingers!

Re: New GEORGE LYNCH PEDAL

Found these on another forum. Apperently, someone had one ordered all ready, and ended up with number 001.
