new Godin Redline axe... holy 80's!

Re: new Godin Redline axe... holy 80's!

The electronic layout sucks. They should have put the volume closer to the bridge pickup and put the toggle switch out toward the end where your hand can swipe it.

cant check the vid from work. Those Redlines lve seen look pretty cool.. Cool to see guitars aimed at shredders again.. BC rich and charvel reissues, Ibanez 770 reissues, then the modern tools: Washburn WM526 and the redlines. Cant wait to check this one. But, I already figure poo poo based on GJs comment on the layout.

Re: new Godin Redline axe... holy 80's!

I don't know about the new Redline Nemesis from the video, but I love my Redline 3 and Redline 1 guitars. Very nice guitars at a very nice price. Personally the relatively wide (1-11/16") nut, jumbo frets, flat radius (16") and ergocut make for a great feel. The ergocut they do to the neck makes it the most comfortable neck I have ever played.

I love my Redline guitars and I think they aren't necessarily just for shredders. I don't consider myself a shredder by any definition as I rarely reach above the 12th fret, but I do play hard rock and metal.

I am not a fan of the pickup layout - 81 bridge, 85 neck combo. I put the 85 in the bridge and the 81 in the neck until I replace it with a 60. The 85 is much better for what I do. In my Redline 1 - I replaced the 81 with an 89 so I can have at least two sound options.

Just a plug to anyone looking at a Godin guitar, seriously consider it, they are great. Sorry to hijack but I don't get the oppotunity to spread Godin love very often.

Godin makes awesome stuff. Been gasin' long for a black/cream progression. With maple fboard of course ;)

Re: new Godin Redline axe... holy 80's!

They play nicely . . . I just didn't like the colours or the fact that they almost all come with active pickups.

I dug the really candy apple red one. seemed fitting for a "redline" speed guitar. Never had actives (except for my bass), so I actually wouldn't mind having one in the hizzy.

I had terrible GAS for a Godin before I got my Washburn strat. They seem well made and a great value for a Canadian/US product.

They were flying out of the store that stocked them here and since then that store and the chain went under so there is no way for me to check them out which is probably good or I would have probably bought two or three of them by now. I still think the Icon model with the Lollar P90s is my favorite.

Gah! That thing is so ugly, it even makes the Gibson shark look good in comparison. Like someone hit it with the ugly stick, making it fall from the ugly tree. The horror...

re. all the EVH comments, people who think about getting the Godin will just realise Charvel is releasing this at NAMM, and buy it instead:

(and no offence to Godin, I hear they make great guitars, but these Charvels look much better)

Hell yeah!! Ive wanted a charvel star for years but not enough to dish out the couple of grand for a vintage one.. what will tho run Adambrad? guesses?

Re: new Godin Redline axe... holy 80's!

That Godin is an ugly attempt at a classic style. Charvel, Ibanez and countless others have done a much better job. Even the Hamer Scarab has a one-up on that Godin!
