Why do I even open Facebook marketplace up??
I should know better!

Anyhow, 2 hours of driving and an hour of cleaning and setup....

Here is my new (old) Goth SG.

I had the Goth explorer and it was my main squeeze for a very long time. (That now belongs to my other guitarist)

Found this for a great deal. All original except for the ugly knobs that were on it.
It will get a new output jack, but otherwise... Playable condition! Frets are worn a bit, but I just got it for a lightweight beater while my back heals after surgery.

Here it is with new strings, knobs, and a lot of cleaning finished.

Here's how it came home with me

I used this Mr. Clean all purpose spray cleaner on the fret board with a washrag and it cleaned right up! Best trick ever for gunky fret boards!

This guitar is super light! I don't have a scale that will measure it

Oh and I tried these new 9.5-46 stringjoys strings.... I only bought them to enter for a chance to win an LP.
They seem silky

Interesting! I only just recently came to know about Stringjoy. They have a lot on offer!

Guitar looks great, by the way! That Epi "Goth" series was sorely underrated \m/

Put that on a scale! I wanna know how light it is. I think they made a goth LP model of the same series, too.

Yes they made the Goth in an LP, a V, an SG, and the Explorer. And also a thunderbird bass.
The G-400 was made from 02 to 04.

Gibson also made a goth series and also the Voodoo series.
Those are pretty difficult to find (thus afford) those

best I can get a reading is 6.5 lbs

These stock pups are called Alnico 5 Classics.... I like them so far as they are very different that everything else I play through. But I haven't given it the road test with the big amps and speakers yet...

I wonder what they do to make it so light? I'd love if a thinner LP was about that weight.

Tonight I had a bunch of whiskey and wired in a black winter I had on the shelf..... (Which is absolute heresy of you ask me).

Nope! Not a good tone .... .
I Put the original back on and apparently I'm too drunk to solder ha ha ha I will have to fix it tomorrow.

Congrats!

Back when I started playing guitar, that's when the original Gibson Goths and Voodoos were around. As soon as I got my first guitar, I started searching the web for what other models there were out there, and I knew I had to have a Gibson Les Paul Goth. Either that or a Gibson Les Paul Custom (I did not know a Custom ranked way above a Studio/Goth at that time) were the guitars of my dreams.

I will always have a soft spot for all-black satin guitars. Something about them just looks so classy and Metal at the same time.

I fixed it ha ha I had soldered a ground wire straight to the lead post..... For some (bourbon related) reason...!

Now I can't decide.... Pickguard or no pickguard?
I like it off because it's less shiny.... But then it looks a little more like the esp.... not sure yet.
