New Guitar Day

Import guitar from a local Builder, Mahogany body & neck, Maple Cap, the Maple Cap is as thick as my Gibsons, incredible sounding guitar. The stock pup measures 6K, no squeal or hum as of yet, works fine with dirt pedals, sounds Amazing for what it is. To be honest its on Par with my other 3 Les Pauls and they all have dual Seymour humbuckers.
Im pretty picky usually but i couldn't pass this up.

Re: New Guitar Day

That's a cool take on a classic. Any info you can provide about the builder? Cost? Weight?

Re: New Guitar Day

...and is it routed for standard neck single coil or lipstick size? Do you know the pick up manufacturer? Sorry for all the questions. Would like one similar but with 25-1/2" scale.

About 8lbs on the nose. Standard P-90 route, the 2 pot cavity on the back is very deep, right to the Maple Cap. I have no idea the manufacture or pup info but it sounds Amazing for what it is. I paid $400 bucks as he had dropped the price by $100 bucks. The Gold finish looks really good to. There are minor imperfections but all in all its a good guitar.

Re: New Guitar Day

I like the bridge also. It's intonatable also, correct? Nice score and unique. Are you getting along with the knob placement and looks to be routed for a neck pick up of some sort from the picture?

Intonation of the 12 fret harmonic is flat but all the fretted notes are in pitch. This is my first wraptail bridge, knob placement isnt bad but i have grabbed for standard Les Paul volume knobs a couple times. Its a good score, no downside for me all things considered. I had been on the hunt for months for a another good guitar. I like the Trapziod inlays as most Jr's have dots, its got cream single binding, back, sides & neck are all natural wood finish. It has a scarf joint & an added heel to the neck but Asian guitar are getting much better.
I sent you a PM.

Re: New Guitar Day

ehdwuld beat me to it.

Yes, it's a GFS p-90 sized gold foil.

If it is 6.8k, that is within the tolerance of this 6.6k pup. It's not alnico, but ferite (ceramic) magnet. And, yes, wax potted.

I have several of their humbucker sized gold foils with alnico mags, and they actually sound great! (Don't know how the ceramic sounds...I typically don't like that sound in any pup).

It measures about 6.6K, i looked inside when i first got it but cant remember what it looks like. I dont wanna detune the guitar again cuz lastime i did i broke a string. How do you know its Ceramic ? Its has lots of gain and is very brite, the brite part is why i figured it was A5. So im gueesing the A5 measures 6.8K & the Ceramic 6.6K ?

Re: New Guitar Day

I know it's ceramic because the GFS website says it is. Check the link I gave you. Plus the brightness you hear is also a sign it is ceramic not A5. No, the alnico gold foils are 6.0k and 5.4k for bridge and neck pups.

Re: New Guitar Day

I'm guessing it's alnico. Looks like the ferrites have 115 and 116 part numbers. The Alnico's look like they are 121 and 122.

Re: New Guitar Day

I like it but have to say not seeing double humbucker is playing with my head.

Re: New Guitar Day

One thing about the GFS website...you don't always get the straight info on their products. That pup is a good example. If the model number is GF-121 then it is the alnico model, but in the heading it says it is 6.0k. In the body of the text it gives you the same info as for the ferite model...6.6k and 5.8k. Usually the resistance that you measure is pretty close to what is advertised, so I'm confused that you measure 6.6k on model 121. Did you measure that with the pup not attached to anything, or could there be some other resistance in the circuit?

Thru a cord. I re-measured and its 6.8K. Also looks like GF changed their stock numbers i must have the old numbers. I knew it was Alnico as it sounds on par with my other Gibson pups.
Best for me is its not Honky or needs replaced right away. It is a Scre-eeeamer. It is a Humbucker.
