New guitar Day

It's actually round! I think that's 2 roundies in a row now....

Today I bought a new guitar! So I needed to post it with a Riff.
2017 Tribute Les Paul. Mahogany, maple cap, rosewood board.
I got it home, lem-oiled the board, wiped it all down, pulled the pickguard, installed Schaller Straploks, new beefy slinky strings, set it up low and drop B
It sounds pretty meaty and wonderful to me!

Thanks guys!
The finish is called honey burst.
It's plugged into my TSL100 thru a 909 clone, that's it.
I think it sounds great too!
I've never had a guitar with this much sustain.
I haven't ever been impressed with 490 pickup, always swapped it out for a distortion or a black winter or something, but this one may stay for awhile.

Has the neck pickup been turned around?

It has a neck pickup? Hmmm I'll have to do some looking into that question.

I was told by the shop owner that it is untampered with. Has original tags, manual, warranty card, etc, no marks anywhere on it. Zero fret wear. Zero buckle rash.... he Said the original owner bought it new and it sat in a closet. I believe that, it's mint.

but ya! The neck pup IS backwards! Maybe mines a 1 off and worth millions! Yes!

Good eye brother, an attention to detail!

now it's going to bother me.... (Getting a screwdriver)

Pfff cue the Gibson QC chatter

Honey burst, desert burst, and ice tea are my favs.

Sorry to burst your bubble...not worth millions. But nice anyway. No binding? That's a good thing in my book.
Could I ask how much you paid?
What's a 909? I know TS 9, and TS 808. But not familiar with 909 (unless you're referring to an early Beatles song).

Totally joking about the one off.
No binding, I generally don't like the binding either.
808, typo on my dumb phone.
I paid under 1k for it with a new set of Straploks.

I know. Me too.

Ah, OK. I personally like the 808 better than the TS 9.

So with no binding it's essentially a Studio.
I have to admit that I DO like body binding on most guitars, but I absolutely HATE the way Gibson does neck binding. I won't buy a Gibson with neck binding unless I get a really great discount to pay for all of the work I'll need to put into the neck to fix the poor Gibson quality...the way they do neck binding with nubs that aren't intimate with the frets.

Under a grand sounds like a great price considering its like-new condition. Big congrats.

I actually like it better with the pick guard on. Just me.

Did the Tributes come with the cryogenically treated frets?

I'm not positive, maybe someone with great knowledge will chime in.

from what I can discern, 2014 is when cryo frets were introduced, and they've been using them on all les Pauls ever since. From what I know about knife making, sounds like a worthwhile endeavor.
Thanks for asking, I learned something today!

One of the reasons I like my studio so much is because of the no binding. Then I got my PRS single cut, and the binding is excellent. It was a “I get it now” moment when I played that guitar.

I took it to rehearsal last night. Got to hear it in the band and really get some play time with it.

It sounds quite a bit different than my usual active pupped explorers. Had to work through the feedback and harmonic singing to get a real feel for the instrument.
overall I'm very pleased with it.

It's weird, the fit and feel if wearing an LP is just different than all my other guitars. It just carries differently.

But so far, it looks nice and sounds great. My other guitarist is totally jealous again ha ha.
