New guitar not jiving with old pickups

.. or maybe it's me..

I pulled the WLH set from my LP Studio and installed in my new Standard and they are way too bright and undefined. I played with pickup height, pole height etc. , but could not find the tone I was looking for.

Interestingly, I found some old threads from years ago where I compared the WLHs in that same Studio to Seths in a PRS SE and even then I preferred the articulation of the Seth's.

So time to try Seths in the new LP. I have a 4 conductor bridge that I just installed, and just ordered the matching neck so I can take advantage of the Standard's split / phase wiring

I'd love to hear how this project turns out. I think sometimes it works out that way= great pickups/wrong guitar.

I have one of the old chambered LP Standards, and it's pretty bright. I didn't like WLH in there, and I even swapped to UOA5 magnets. I like them much better in my SG Standard, especially now with A4 magnets. I put seths in my LP, and while they are still bright it is more manageable. I think I keep the bridge tone around 5-6. This guitar is probably a good candidate for 300k pots.

I knew in a couple minutes, yup that is the bridge tone I am after. Sometimes vanilla is the best flavor.
Neck pickup will be here next week
