First to make a couple things clear 1) I like PRS
2) I like figured tops
3) I like 24.5 " scale length
4)I like solid rosewood necks
So now that is out in the open. When I bought my first PRS over 20 years ago my wife felt one guitar was all anyone needed and she made me sell my mid 70's Gibson Les Paul Custom. I have always regretted that ,not actually THAT guitar as it was not one of gibson's finest; three piece top, laminated body, but I missed having a single cutaway guitar. Well over the years my wife has relaxed a bit about the number of guitars "allowed" in the house. So at present I have 4 PRS electrics, 1 PRS acoustic, 1 strat, 1 classical guitar, 1 beater acoustic, and 1 bass. However not a single cut electric in the bunch (the PRS acoustic is a cutaway). When PRS first came out with the singlecut I checked it out but didn't care for the 25"scale. I have kept an eye on Gibson R8's and R9's over the past few years but never actually felt they were worth pulling the trigger. Well this year PRS announced their SC 58 and the old GAS got flowing. Now dealers are not getting them in until about November but I started checking out a few on-line retailers and came across this beauty. PRS McCarty singlecut with wide-fat neck, 6100 style frets, solid Indian rosewood neck , select top, Santana style headstock, nitro finish. It was too much for me. I succumbed and pulled the trigger. Forget about the 2 piece bridge of the new sc58.
