Hi
I'm new to the board, but wanted to try and post and see what results I might get. I'm not new to playing guitar, and just got back into it. I recently just bought an Ibanez online as I had one just like it before (almost exactly I think) and I loved the neck on this guitar. Well, this new guitar has a weird trem it seems for an Ibanez. The one I had was the Ibanez model 470 I think, and this one is a model 450. Both of them are made in Japan and the last one that I had I loved the neck on it. It had a terrible trem though called a TRS2 I think it was. Well, this model 450 I've not received yet, but I asked the guy that I bought it off of online if it said "TRS" on the side, and he said it only says "Patent under floyd rose" on it. Does anyone know what model of Floyd it could be? Just curious. Also, would it be possible to change it out to a real floyd rose? If so, where is a good place to buy one online? What's invovled? I don't want too much work.
. If it ends up being too much work I'll block it.
On the last guitar I just blocked the trem with a piece of really hard ash and it worked great. The guitar sounded better, etc. Then I installed a Seymour Duncan distortion pickup and I drilled out the holes for mounting and used some really nice screws and mounted the pickup direclty to the body. What a difference it made! Well, I loved the pickup, but it was a tad to bright for me. Not much, but just a tad. I'm wondering what Duncan makes that's got the same output with just less treble in the eq? I'm going to do the same again! Mount it directly to the body. I typically only use the bridge pickup. I play stuff from Racer X to Jimi Hendrix. I'm wanting though to get more into some of my 80's stuff, like Racer X, etc, and that neck is the best for fast shred type stuff. What about the Duncan Invader? I'm afraid it will be too dark though? I want something that still has the bite that the Distortion pickup has. I've thought about Dimarzio's too as I've had a Distortion from them before, but it was too dark I thought. I also had a Dimarzio Tone Zone and it too was too dark, but I loved the harmonics. I'm thinking I must need something with more mids and less bass and treble, but not too little bass. Just a tad maybe?
Thanks from Indianapolis!
Tim
