New heavier instrumental

I've been doing a lot of Valve Jr experimentation lately, so I figured it was time for a break. This one's back on the Ampeg VH140C...using the Taylor solidbody, the amp's dirty channel, and a single SM57. I probably could have done something a little more creative with the melody, but I didn't really intend for this one to become an instrumental...I was noodling around after recording the rythym guitar and figured I'd lay something down.

I'm also getting used to how mixes sound in this room, so I changed some stuff around (snare drum tuning, overhead mic EQ, etc) to compensate. Any comments/criticism welcome.

Re: New heavier instrumental

sweet! sounds great! I like the rhythym work and tone.

Re: New heavier instrumental

I still say give more WOOF in the bass guitar (more low mids and lows) and focus more on the bass "push" of the bass drum than the presence of the kick.

The ride bell has come back to a reasonable level here, but I still hear a bias on your highs and mids all around, instrumentation wise (cymbals and snare levels higher than bass and bass drum)

I'm obviously into matters of personal preference now, but YOU ASKED SUCKA!

Sure did. :D

Did another one tonight, this is a remake of a song a buddy and I were writing years ago. Needs words bad but it's a fun riff to rock on. Sort of reminiscent of 'Wake Up' by Rage.

I haven't demo'd this one on anything else but my recording speakers. I think the drums are a little loud but not too bad. Tried to get a little more low-end presence.

I think I'm going outside my 'alternative country' classification.

edit: hmm, something happened at the end...apparently it started recording again for a little bit. disregard the last 3 seconds.
