New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

hey guys, so the sun is coming up as i am writing this and i have to somehow be at work at 9, but whatever, its all good, i got a bunch of ideas down in this clip and it was a good chance for me to test out my new mix and my new podxt guitar and bass sound.
For this song i used the carvin with the m7 and i think that is seriously gonna end up being the guitar i always record with cuz of that damn pickup (thanks shujin!!)
Drums as usual are dfh but are incredibly lazily programmed so expect that to improve some.
Bass is my Schecter Stiletto Custom 5 thru the podxt as well.
Anyways im hoping that this will be a Periphery song, but we will see what happens once all the layers find their way in, in the meantime, check it out and let me know what y'all think!

www.soundclick.com/bulb (should play by default, if not then its the first song on the list "as it were...")

enjoy!

Bulb you are really inspiring me.The part between 25/40 and at the end of your song(the slide riff) with unregular rythm is really great.I loved the tone and the drums except the snare tone.It does not fit in to whole picture and is too "bright" and "wide".The song structure is amazing and it is as good as meshuggah.!!!!Keep on posting man.I am excitet.

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

It's hard to believe you get that tone from a PODxt.
Wow...Send me this patch.
Seriously, what amp model is it?

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

Outstanding stuff, sir. :headbang:

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

thanks, regarding the snare some love it some hate it, but i frankly think i have hit really close to the snare sound i hear in my head, and since i am a drummer, i am extremely picky about what sounds i want to use, its not a common metal snare sound, but then again im not even going for a common metal mix hehe!

as for the guitar tone its the big bottom model and to be honest with you unless you are using my carvin and running it thru my mix it sounds like utter ass! thin and harsh sounding, the rules for a mix are completely different it seems haha!

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

ok guys i updated the song its a little longer, mixed just a bit better, and the drums are programmed properly for the parts!

Discovering this was a real surprise for me. The tone I liked to play on my own with sounded like crap when I recorded with it. Adding drums, bass, & another guitar turned it into mud!

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

it sounds much better now.and the new version is better too.And you have to be a drummer or a genius to "think" this kind of riffing.Normal guitarists do not have this kind of rythm feel.Thanx for sharing again!

OMFG dude, there are few artists I hear now and again that absolutely make me drool with every note. You can officially count my as a huge fan of your playing and musical direction.

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

i think you just blew all your past stuff (which is damn cool) out of the water with this one. KILLER clip man!!

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

wow thanks so much guys!
i do happen to be a drummer as well, drums were my first love and i will always play drums, but i live in an apt now so i cant ever practice, so i take it all out on the guitar instead haha.

Almost the same here. The only difference is a have a studio to reherse ,still i am more concentrated on guitra now.i just play drumms twice a week

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

Very awesome. One of my biggest gripes in regards to polyrhythmic meshuggah-esque stuff is that it can be extremely droning. Just long passages over the same rhythm that never goes anywhere. You really make it melodic with a lot of cool changes and interesting chord shapes.

Re: New heavy rough song clip with Podxt, Dfhs, and Lundgren M7

daemon: yeah i get to play a bit with my band since i still have to play drums for my band since i still have to teach our drummer the parts, but that doesnt leave a lot of room for just messing around on the kit sadly...

oh well at least i get to hit things and not get arrested wheeee!1

vinterland:yeah thats my same gripe haha, i try to avoid it as much as possible lately i have just been switching up the tuning on the guitar so that im forced to get creative with shapes or old shapes make new sounds, keeps the ideas a bit more fresh imho!
