New Ibanez Genesis range

I figured some of you Ibanez guys might like this. Ibanez is looking back on the past by reissuing the RG550, 570 and 670 with a full complement of original Edge trems, original Wizard necks, V1/S1/V2 pups, and square heels. However, 5 piece necks unlike the oldies. Webpage (in Japanese): http://www.ibanez.co.jp/japan/gc/.

The bad: Japan only, limited numbers.

Dang - that Violet Chameleon makes me want to refinish one of my RGs...
Yes a nice Colour. One of the things I like most about Ibanez is the smooth rounded neck heel. But this is kind of the old RG feel. Never played one using the Original Edge Trems...but I hear nothing but good things.

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

I can't believe it. Finally after 25 years, they have nailed THE winner spec. Laminated necks AND square heel AND top mount nuts AND original Edge. As big an Ibanez hater as I am, I'd totally hit one of those. Wicked.

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

RG's are a guilty pleasure for me. I don't own one but every time I pick one up, it feels nice, and dare I say feels right. And it doesn't have to be one of the higher priced models either. The RG421 is really cool. I like its simplicity. Wouldn't mind a 550 or a 920 though. I like what I see on these reissues.

Well, I like the flip-flop one too, though I don't think the photo is very flattering. The RFR is the winner for me, though.

The 670 struck me as an unusual choice to reissue but on reflection a good one, giving people the option of an ash or mahogany RG to compliment the regular basswood ones. Me gusta.

Gotoh tuners are a nice touch too.

My first thought on seeing these was pleasure/despair, because I particularly don't like Wizard necks :(, but the rest of the specs tick all the boxes.

There's likely to be a tad more beef and sustain in a square heel because of the greater contact area between the neck and the body than an AANJ. Can be a bit tricky hitting that 24th fret, especially if you've got smaller hands.

The old Edge trems are bulletproof :).

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

Weren't the reissues a few years ago in the U.S. a lot like those? They had 770's, too.

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

^^ Yeah. Those were the 20th anniversary ones, but it was just the RG550 in RFR, desert yellow, and black. They had V7/V8 pups though, which Ibanez didn't put in the original ones till 1994.

Yes, the 770 was reissued in 2008.

@ChAoZ - I want to see a write-up (with pix) about the Destroyer in your avatar. Thing looks sick, mon!

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

Oh ya! I like the Red, Yellow, Mahogany, and Ash one. Especially the Mahogany, and Ash! I think I like the Ash best!
