Got mine. It's from the Prestige range (hence that Prestige multi-tool you see there) but it's not priced as one (it costs less than some Premium models). No bag/case included, bring your own. It's available in selected countries as well, not just Japan.

Beautiful, now I really want one.

Can I ask where you live and how much you paid for it? From what I can tell the Genesis range got an Asia release too, and I'm encouraged by the fact that it costs less than the premium models

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

The RFR has a degree of glow to it, in fact, I'd say it has a little tinge of orange in there as opposed to say, a Candy Apple red.

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

I bought one of the 20th anniv 550 reissues but had to sell it.. man, I loved that axe. Congrats on your new axe bro!

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

I don't see a reason for a long-gone guitar with big-a$$ heel. Better off buying a Prestige or a Premium with AANJ, same original Edge tremolo.

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

Guuuuuys, no one did adress the #1 question: are they FUJIGEN JAPANESE?? And, even if they are, #2: are they worth paying twice-thrice the price of an early 90s original RG 5xx/7xx? Or is it just pure new car smell appeal?

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

^^ Of course they're Fujigen; you'd never get that spec on MII/MIC.

Well, they're a bit cheaper than some of the MII Premiums, so you tell me? :)

Moreover, they have a 5pc maple/walnut laminated neck, unlike the originals, which is a plus in my view.

Gawd, that RFR is like magma, soo hot my mind is melting... Do I sound like an RFR fanboi or what?

1) Yes they are. Serial proof:

2) They aren't too up there in terms of price, in fact, I'm thankful Ibanez kept the prices sensible. For an RG550, it's listing for YEN80,000 (USD785) before shipping of course.

Fender has a big ass heels but they are still out there. Prestige/ Premium models don't come with the original Edge units.

People buy Fender for different reason than Ibanez RG.

The seafoam green Jem is a Premium (Indonesian made) with original Edge but is more expensive ;) (but you get DiMarzio Evolution set and Steve's name on it!)

Re: New Ibanez Genesis range

Wow... So now not only are there Indo Prestige, but also Japanese nonprestiges? Or did they just leave it off the headstock for the reissues' historical accuracy?

Hmm... Wonder if theyll finally do a japanese destroyer again. And what a pity they can never reissue their 4digit model number Pauls from the 70s - or can they, fora non lawsuit headstock version??

There are no Indonesian made prestige models, its all MIJ. And from what I hear those MIC Destroyers are pretty good, maybe not as good as MIJ but the Chinese and Indonesian made Ibanez guitars have gone a very long way.
