New Ibanez models, including RG Custom - WOW!

Re: New Ibanez models, including RG Custom - WOW!

I'm still waiting for an all mahogany neck through RG or an all mahogany S from them.

I would rock this in a heartbeat if it had a fat neck!

Meh, I went crazy for a minute when I saw what looked like an RG565 reissue. Not made in Japan?? WTF Ibanez?!?! I would have so jumped over it, no matter what the price were. IMO the RG565 is the coolest RG around.

At least it has nice pickups.

*Yawn*

Dear Ibanez: reissue some cool old guitars, like Roadstar, Proline, Radius, and 540P. Don't want to pay for a sig model to have Edge/Lo Pro either.

The FR seems all right, but it's probably got a pencil-neck.

It's pretty much an RG565 re-issue (I bought this mainly because I missed the RG565 back then- got myself an RG560 instead- used to hate reverse headstock), save for the bridge. Made in Indonesia. It's a limited anniversary release, be quick if you are interested. Got mine 2 days ago.

RG's are my guilty pleasure. Never owned one but when I play them I think about getting one. I really did the looks of the RG921.

that S with the EMGs looks sexy, the only problem is those axes is the body way too thin

Re: New Ibanez models, including RG Custom - WOW!

Shame the 565 is Indonesian. That pickup combination makes the most sense of any they had on a 24 fret neck. The middle pickup is fairly silly. The 24 fret necks puts the pickups too close together to quack properly, so why bother to make it look like a strat when it will never, ever be able to do those sounds.

I made an alder body for my '91 RG570 and used the 565 configuration. I love it.

Re: New Ibanez models, including RG Custom - WOW!

It's a well-made guitar, the reason I bought one. 'Made in Indonesia' wasn't a consideration.

Re: New Ibanez models, including RG Custom - WOW!

I've tried the J-Customs but can't bring myself to fork out the extra $$$ since the Prestige range is already good enough in terms of QC & tone.

How is this guitar? Ibanez is KILLING me! First, I dont need, nor can I afford any more guits. BUT, the anniversary models are killing me with GAS... I LOVED them all the first time around, but didnt have any. and since Im so stuck on 80s metal and I think a midlife crisis... I want these.
I had one of the 550 reissues and it was AWESOME (but, it was Japanese) but I sold it. I loved the 770 reissue, cuz I loved the clear pg and colored inlays, but I couldnt justify the price. Now they have the R2xxv and its not too pricey and I could get yellow and then multi color the pups... BUt now, the RG3XXv in laser blue!!! OMG, for some reason it rocks my rolls... I love the color, the colored inlays, the pup config as its diff then most RGs and the upside down headstock.. I seem to recall about the only upside down headstocks back in the 80s were the special guitars the stars had...
But again, I dont need another guit, especially am midline one, but .....

So, how is it? any issues or concerns? Price?? I played a couple of the 920 prestiges with high expectations and found them to be VERY disappointing..

I was disappointed at first to learn these models weren't Japanese, but I've come 'round to being okay with it. What got me into Ibanez was the quality of those Japanese RG instruments. Now that I've spent so much time with so many different examples over the years, I feel like I can tell pretty quickly if a guitar under inspection has qualities similar to what I like about my old RG550, 520, etc.

BTW, that RG3XXV in Candy Apple is teh secks.
