New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

... for Dino Cazares. A 7 string with a deep red/ burgundy finish. Floyd Rose and factory tuned a whole step down. But the real cool bit is the single Seymour Duncan active pickup codenamed Retribution. Possible signature pickup in the works?

Check it out here.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

One pickup and just a volume control? Very minimalist... I wouldn't like that, I need a lot of knobs to play with.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

I can live without the neck pup but i need a tone control.

That guitar looks like typical ibanez deliciousness

I wouldn't either (love LP style controls) but if we're being honest, Fear Factory isn't known for their multitude of sounds or tones.

Nice guitar Kramer. I also want to play guitars. Now i am learning. When i take guitar in my hands, it comes in my mind that i am out of this world.

Ha ha, ironically the "lead" position (bridge) does the rythme tones best, while the "rythme" position (neck) does the lead tones best!

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

Maybe for you... For me unless its clean i never touch the neck pick up

no doubt great lead tones can come out out of the bridge pup, but there is a whole ARMY of shredders (yngwie, blackmore, etc...) who used the neck pup mostly for the ultra shreddy, fast, creamy stuff.

Well crap then its a good thing there is an ARMY of players that couldnt give a rats patootie what yngwie does. If your that kind of player more power to you, this guitar is then not aimed at you... then for guys like me who love the bridge pickup and like simplicity then bam its dead on.

lol, what is the percentage of the members of army A vs army B?

Also what simplicity man? 7-string, lo-pro with no less than 15 screws, active pup, battery + active vol pot... man, this is FAR from simplistic. By not having at least a neck pup is simply idiotic from every aspect. Definitely an eccentric choice for Cazares lovers only. But its ok, if you wanna buy it then go for it by any means.

Who cares what percentage.... it comes down to this... there are players that like neck pickups.. plenty of guitars for you to choose from... This is a guitar for those that dont like them. Personally i think guitar playing would be boring as whale fecal matter if everyone was the same and had the same tastes. Not sure why it bothers you so much. Idiotic is designing a guitar with features that the artist doesnt use. Though i must express my condolences I wasnt aware that you found floyds and 9 volt batteries to be complicated, you have my sympathies.

Most opinions I can respect, but I just don't get this. Dino, and probably most people who buy this guitar, don't use the neck pickup. So why have one? And it's not really an eccentric choice. I believe most early electric guitars only had one pickup. LP Jrs had one P-90, and I wouldn't call that idiotic. EVH even took his Strat, ripped out THREE pickups and replaced them with one, and it did everything he wanted it to do. Sure it's not the guitar for you, but it obviously works for somebody.

Sweet guitar though, love the color.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

Too many knobs. No need for a volume knob. That's only for weaklings.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

I mentioned the Retribution pickups a few months ago in the Pickup Lounge, but no one had heard of them and I couldn't find any real information online. However, Dino helped voice the original AHB-1 Blackouts (and did a killer job, I might add), so I'm curious about what changes he made.

As for a single-pickup guitar, yes they can be limiting in a sense, but it really depends on your needs. My #1 only has a bridge pickup and it's the guitar I play most. If I really need a neck pickup, which I do on occasion, I have other guitars I can reach for. To each his own...
