I'd like to see a set of Antiqutiy Strat pickups with the alnico 5 Surfer neck and middle and the alnico 2 Texas Hot Custom bridge that did not require reversing the black and white leads leads on the bridge pickup and which did not require swapping the positions of the Surfer neck and middle pickups in order to get humcancelling when the middle pickup is combined with the neck or bridge pickup.

They could name the set after me! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: At the moment its my favorite set of Strat pickups. :)

Lew

Lew,

They could name it the "LEWSURFER" set:laugh2: :laugh2:

i had a brilliant idea.
why not make a pickup that you can SET/increase and decrease its´eq? as a parametric/graphic equalizer.?
it´s too much technology but i think it´s possible.

I'd love to see more P-90 inspired options. The real P-90 line is a nice start, and the Phat Cats are a great addition, but I'd love to see the latter offered in various levels of output as well as noiseless options. ANd then I'd like to see all those options squeezed into a tele/strat sized single coil. Obviously, there are some pretty big technological hurdles in the way of making all of those still sound at all like a P-90 (and maybe it's just undoable) but that's what I'd like to see.

Itd be cool to see something like that too. The Fralin SP43 is like a p90 in a strat sized single coil, so thats one reason i said id like to see something like that in SDs line.

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

what i would love to see is a hot bucker in the 16k range that is a cross b/t the invader and the JB....the invader has a nice low end chunk which is great but tends to get muddy up top and isn't too great for lead work due to it's lack of high end and articulation. now the JB is great for lead work but tends to lack a good low end punch and can sound thin in some situations. let's take the two and cross breed them to get the "XSSIVE" perhaps (that would be a sweet name IMO hint hint)...imagine the chunk of an invader with the high end bite and articulation of the JB in a hot 16k range....i think we would have one killer pickup. also it would have either rails or regular adjustable poles, not the huge screws of the invader. oh and if you don't want to call it "XSSIVE" (i don't know why not :laugh2: ) i'd say name it something car/hot rod related....the "big daddy" or the "von crunch" or the "big block" perhaps hehehe. that's my thought.

oh and i think it was mentioned but it would be nice to have the strat size rail pickups in creme color for those who want vintage looking guitars with aged knobs, pickups and pickguards but with more modern sounds.

Seymour Duncan EQ Buckers.
actually, a company named shadow already has this. i forget the model but it looks like an EMG with pole pieces but instead of poles theyre eq and volume adjusters. check em out.
id like to see more trembucker spaced pickups. pearly gates, alnico 2, '59 etc. also, nickel and gold covers as options on ANY humbucker regardless of spacing.

I think Seymour beat you to the punch. He called it a Distortion :D

The oxide caps are the key to the Invader's tone. Put in anything else, and it sounds totally different. What makes the Invader sound different from the Distortion (aside from the 2 extra magnets) is the caps keeping the magnets & coils further away from the strings.

As far as new products go, how about 7 string pickups available in all different colors, plus a 7 string LW-Hmet.

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

I original meant things SD already makes, but are only available from the custom shop. But since my Forum-Mates are so imaginative (and a little demanding), here is my idea for a new pup:

Two Tele lead pups (one RW/RP) mounted on the same metal plate, or if that's not magnetically possible, two over lapping insulated metal plates, to make a TeleBucker, available in the standard Tele slanted arrangement or the standard humbucker parallel arrangement. With flat poles of course.

And, how about threaded pole pieces on single coils that could be adjusted to any radius or custom staggered pole design. Although I don't think the tops should be slotted. Perhaps a special wrench could be used to adjust the height. It could slide over the pole and hook into a single groove on the side of the pole.

What do you think, Sirs?

Yes, but no hint of a reply to any of our word play!

He's not on line right now, but if worse comes to worse, I'll email our suggestions to him later :laugh2: :laugh2:

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

Since we're all talking about new ideas for pups, I've got one. How's about a replcement set for the G&L large rectangular MFD pickups! That would be nifty, right?

Also, little off subject, I'd like to see a CD of BASS pickups samples. I know I've bitched about this already. I've found guitar pup sample websites and CDs all OVER the place. Not a whole lot of people do that for bass, and for goodness sake, the Duncan folks SHOULD!! It'd be way more convenient for me than driving 40 minutes into the city to get to Bass Northwest!! :blackeye:

the distortion i found to be too thin, (i tried it in 2 guitars both different woods) that's why i said mix the sounds of a JB and the low end of the invader. also, the invader without the oxide caps actually isn't bad at all (there was a post about that a while back) if you change to regular poles on it it actually picks up a bit of articulation up top where the oxide caps seem to make it get a bit sloppy for lead work. but a tad bit more high end edge to it would help also...thus my origional idea.

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

While sitting here messing with my tapped QP's, I realized that all the tapped pups are tapped at the 50% point. I'd love to see a version of the QP, (or any "tapped" pup), tapped at the 66% point, but use the present halfway point as the reference point.

In other words, approx. 7k tapped, 10.5k full-on. Sort of, a QP "lite". It wouldn't be quite so drastic a change from the tapped position to full-on.

At least one pup of this design would be cool. ;)

- lil JB for Tele

I think the lil 59 for tele was originally suppossed to be the lil jb for tele. It didn't work out quite like that though...
