Welcome to the forum! Great axe! Tell us what style you play, what amp and/or what sound you are trying to get and we can give you more ideas.

If you want to stay with actives, Duncan blackouts have a more organic feel than the emgs.

The EC1000s also come (or used to) with Duncan 59/JB combo. That is a great set too.

But again, let us know what you hoping to hear..

thanks, i play through a crate gx130c stack and my style is mostly 80's metal mixed with grunge and hard rock. i used alot of flat drop d standard d and drop c.

Distortion/59, or custom/59, or custom/PG.

I dont have much experience with low tunings, but either the distortion or custom should hold up well. Im gonna say custom/59, as much as I like the distortion for metal, I think the custom will cover hard rock and grunge better.

Re: new ltd ec 1000 deluxe

I second the Custom for the bridge. It can cover all of the ground you want (and more) and should remain tight when down tuned. Neck pick up is really just a matter of preference. 59/PG/AII pro can all work well.

Re: new ltd ec 1000 deluxe

I tried the blackouts and liked their tone well enough, but I found them to be too hot and too compressed. Otherwise I would have kept them.

I have an EC1000VB with an EMG 60A in the neck and an 85 in the bridge... meatier, fatter, jucier tone than the 60/81 combo. Louder and more bass than the stock configuration.

If I ever go passive I'll try a covered Jazz/JB combo. Those seem to work pretty well.

Re: new ltd ec 1000 deluxe

Cool guitar, I like Eclipses a whole lot and I can't stand EMG's.

If you are going for a more organic tone that leads me to think a more tradtitional output pickup, I had 59's in my Eclipse and I thought they were great in there. Just remember if you go passive you need to replace the pots and rewire.

Re: new ltd ec 1000 deluxe

great advice thus far.. The custom in the bridge should cover the ground you want.

Re: new ltd ec 1000 deluxe

ive been listening to disturbed and found out that dan of disturbed uses a el diablo in his bridge. any ideas on that pickup

Re: new ltd ec 1000 deluxe

My suggestion is you should have bought the EC1000 that comes with Duncans
