New Melody Maker

Long story but I basically got it for free

Feels really good. Sounds like what I think of when I think of P90's even though I've never owned a P90 guitar. Should be a really fun one to grab and not worry about too much. Tuners are the biggest weak point. Ratio almost seems like 1:1 sometimes but it will do.

Comparing thickness to my Les Paul. About half

Re: New Melody Maker

Melody Makers are fun guitars. I have two, a V and an Explorer with Duncan Designed 101s. The LP one you have with 90s is a good one. I'm blown away it has an arched top and carved back! Enjoy, man!

Re: New Melody Maker

The wraparound bridge and tuning machines have to go. I would check the value of the pots too just to be sure you like them.I did a Babicz TOM to replace a wraparound it wasn't the hardest job if you pay attention to what you are doing it is a pretty easy process.

Re: New Melody Maker

I don't know if it wI'll be an issue on this or not, but I put a babicz adjustable wraparound on my LP Double Cutaway Studio and because of the carved top and flat bottom on the bridge I couldn't lower it enough to get the action right

Re: New Melody Maker

Wrap around doesn't bug me at all cuz it works

Tuners are super sensitive but again, they work but could be better

It's a lot of fun for the money. I probably won't change a thing

Re: New Melody Maker

Looks like it would be great for some punk rock. I dig it! Rock on!!

Update

Got a pro setup on this cause I had a little fret buzz

Just a million times better now. No buzz, intonates all the way up. Plays great. I'm sure the out of box setup on the cheapest Gibby ain't great. That just makes sense. But it's worth it to get it done. It really plays great now
