New neck for my tele

I bought a used butterscotch squier tele on eBay for $125. I replaced the pups with SD STL-1 (Vintage '54) and STR-1 (Vintage Rhythm), replaced the caps and wiring. She sounds great.

However, I'm not crazy about the neck. It's a bit too fat for me. I love the neck on my MIM Strat. And the frets seem high and not smooth. I don't want to drop $$$$ for an American Fender neck so I'm eyeing several mexican made Fender necks (maple or rosewood). Any advice?

Thanks!

Re: New neck for my tele

Which Squier range are we discussing? Affinity, Standard, Vintafe Modified, Classic Vibe, Silver Series, JV Series? IMO, at the budget end of the Market, it is wiser to keep expenditure on upgrades in proportion with the retail price of the instrument. Hence, a $175 neck on a $150 guitar is daft.

+1 for Warmoth, but it depends on your budget. Buying a replacement neck is a good way to revive a guitar. Rock maple may cost 150 to 200, then a nut has to be cut and the frets will need leveling. This will all cost a few bucks, maybe another 200+. Like I said it depends on your budget.
