New Neck PUP for Strat

I've got an American Standard strat with a Hotrail in the neck position and a fullsize JB in the bridge position. I love the JB but the hotrail is just too bassy and gets really muddy. It sounds awesome on the clean channel however and I have the bass side of the pickup pretty low and away from the strings. I'm thinking about putting maybe a full-size '59 or something in the neck. If anyone has any suggestions about how this would sound or any other pickup they think would sound good in there. I play a lot of riff/shred oriented metal so the JB fits perfectly for rhythm work I just need something that will work for lead in the neck. Soloing on a bridge pickup is not my idea of fun Lol!!!

Have you tried the Cool Rails?

If you have access to a push/pull pot, you can wire up the HR to go from series to parallel, which will give you some more sounds to play with.

For a fullsize bucker, nothing is better in the neck of a strat than the APH. It's warm and smooth, without being bassy at all. It cleans up wonderfully, and takes all the gain you can throw at it.

I have a CC/APH combo in my double fat strat, and that will never change. If you want to hear it, click on my soundclips and listen to Heavens Door. CC on distorted rythym, and APH (n) for cleans and solo's.

Hot rails r awesome in the bridge position... i`m willing to try a bridge hot rail in the neck to see what happens.. i`ll tell you later what happened??

Wow that APH sounds great! It's nice being able to hear what a pickup sounds like...especially when it's in generally the same guitar. Sounds great, really clean, nice sustain, I'll have to check it out. I appreciate at it!
