Congrats that's very nice..
I've had a few Norlin's and loved every one.I have a 69 Custom now,one piece body ,no volute. It sounds and plays as well as my old 71 & 72 Deluxe's.

Re: New (old) Gibson day

You lucked out getting Tom Holmes PAF's installed. And heavier 70's guitars sometimes have more balls and sustain, especially with nice pickups. If you ever sell that guitar DO NOT give away the Holmes pickups. Look up the prices on them!

No need. One of the questions I asked when I was looking at the guitar was about the pickups. As I've hung around the My Les Paul forum a bit I knew all about Holmes and the reputation. Nevertheless I was still stunned to see the prices they go for. Its almost in the league of OTPG. Holmes' waiting list is about 2 years now due to his health issues......I've effectively jumped the queue.

Marantz, thats really nice....This must be a REALLY early 69, with all the pre-Norlin features. I know 69 was when the changes happened - and its still the golden-age headstock logo too.
