New (older) Tom Anderson Day

I was in a local shop doing my monthly visit and another customer was trying to sell his incredibly clean 2006 Anderson Classic. He told me the price that they would give him on trade and what he wanted to get (which was low) so I went to the bank and here it is.

My main Anderson has the biggest neck Tom makes, this one has a standard even taper neck.

Like all Andersons it is top notch as an instrument. Super light weight, plays smoothly thanks to the 12-14 compound radius and stainless steel frets. The vintage voicing switch allows for a beefy strat tone or a more stringy cutting strat tone. The trem is stable even when you are hard on things. This guitar is justsuperb, Anderson is my pick for best F-type maker on the planet.

Re: New (older) Tom Anderson Day

Nice!!! As a very recent new member of the "Andy Club"... I totally agree with you on their awesomeness. I've had and played a LOT of strats and strat-style guitars in my 30+ years of playing... but none of them were even close to my Drop Top Classic in looks, fit&finish, playability, and tone. Not even the Suhr that lived at my house for several weeks. Though I'm sure that there are Suhrs that look and play as nice as Andy's. As far as tone goes though... I dunno. I really LOVE the pickups in my Andy. Kept looking for the "magic fairy dust" in there for the first few days. :D

Nice score. It's always fun to intercept someone almost getting ripped off at a store or pawnshop.

We're so used to hearing that Leo Fender got everything right the first time, and need to accept that guys like Tom Anderson actually made useful improvements like moving the input jack out of the way of the trem arm, and spec'ing the necks just perfectly.

I'm glad Anderson is moving away from cluttering everything with all the mini switches, and going for a cleaner look on most of his newer models.
