new partscaster

i put together a Strat thing out of various cheap parts... the body i made myself years ago out of a $15 poplar board and sprayed with gold car paints...

the neck and bridge are off a smashed Squier Affinity... i had to dress the frets as the strings had left deep grooves after the board area took a few wacks during some guys guitar smashing fit... not sure who broke it but the neck and bridge are back in action...

stuck a cheap pickguard with a Hotrails in the bridge, and a few 50's style Fender PU's.. just some spare stuff i had collecting dust...

after some fine tuning the set up it sounds and plays well

Re: new partscaster

That looks cool. Only thing I'd change is I'd toss the volume control down to the middle tone hole.

Re: new partscaster

thanks John for hosting and posting my guitar photo... and thanks to you guys for the comments... the body has some minor flaws... it could do with some more finnish coats... it was the 3rd guitar i ever tried to make in my life... my first experiments with car paints... i found i love the wood working but hate the stink and mess of finnish work!

i have quite a few bodies and necks i need to get more active in finnishing... a tele i made years ago just needs some frets and spray finnish... it will rock the house when done... i was happy how that one turned out... an SG is roughed out, a few other teles are roughed... a nice strat body made out of Mahogany and flame maple top is almost ready for finnish work... Plus 2 Double necks are in need of some wood working... more work then i know what to do with... lol

i had some minor health issues this last winter and i need to stay more active and get some exercise... so i figure these old guitar projects could do with some attention

i have the complete set of electronics ready to go in... just odds and ends i have in a box... the hotrails stays... i can either add 2 50's style Fender PU's out of a USA reissue from the early 80's... or i can use a Hot Rails/Fender Noiseless/Dimarzio HS2 set up...

PS... the other crazy idea i had was to order a custom pickguard with only a slot for the single Hotrails PU and a single volume pot like it stands now...
